I heard a rumor today at a real estate office that this property has been sold. Has anyone heard?

I wish it were about 10 stories taller. Would look even better. Very nice building but a bit squatty.

I agree Triton. That embassy suites belongs in The suburbs of Beaumont. It amazes me when someone builds something that's already dated looking before it's even finished. GRRRR.

What is the latest on this? Seems all is silent. Except of course for the yellow signs everywhere.

Ok. You all win. Chicago doesn't have only 70 plus story buildings going up. It just seemed like it when I was there last. Certainly NYC's new builds seem taller than 50. My point is that we used to have the tallest building west of the Mississippi and I believe LA has that now. We need to grab that title back. If we can't do it now, in this economy, it isn't ever likely.

In NYC and Chicago it seems every building under construction is 70+ stories. We need 85+ IMHO. Just saying.

My post should have said "out it goes". Just love autocorrect.

I am not surprised. Most of the stretch of San Felipe between Kirby and Shepherd is under utilized. 1950's one story commercial. Out it owes!

I'm not sure why people love The Shard? It reminds me very much of the Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang, DKR.

I think the Ryugyong Hotel looks like it would be in a Batman movie or something. The proportions are off.
I would love to see something like The Shard though.

Nate99 -In the spirit of going head to head with the Hilton, they should put a Lupe Tortilla in this one.
Now that's the best idea I've heard all day!

Unfortunately I haven't heard of any plans to remove the cheesy red "smokestacks".

It seems very narrow to me. It will be interesting to see once the hotel Alessandra is in.

Central Park looked amazing. Dubai was interesting.

Have you all seen this? I wish Houston had been included..

Round Rock when it was tiny then an inner looper where I hope to never leave.

I didn't know Galveston was included.

Plus since they always go by percentage growth, we have a harder time breaking into the very top. And speaking of stats, since the "Dallas Metroplex" includes Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Etc. we should include Galveston, Conroe, and Beaumont in ours.

Wow. Reminds me of the 80's.

It's virtually torn down this AM, and a big pile of rubble.

It's official. They are building a new headquarters:

Well, only the Motel 6 for me. They leave the light on.

I am surprised they don't want a hotel in the mix.

I saw it in my Kindle version of the Chron. How do a post a photo? It is very nice looking. I am wondering about the parking situation though.

Have you all noticed that Fingers properties have metal studs. What a difference that might have made. I think he also has concrete floors. I am going to go look at The Suzanne tomorrow and see. I guess this will slow down the possible apartment "glut" by about a small percentage.
