  1. According to the demo crew, the building is also coming down but they didnt know how soon.
  2. There is a large stack of HEAVY structural I beams on the sidewalk outside the fence. Under the tree in this photo.
  3. It looks like in two weeks your photo update will introduce the EMBASSY SUITES. Well done, Skanska.
  4. The facade is all new. The mixed color brick is a weird attempt to make distressed plaster look. I am not a fan.
  5. Even if the garage demo is all that's planned, this is such a huge symbolic step forward for the area. Just removing the atrocious smell is a godsend.
  6. Unless they closed recently, I don't think Atticus owns the property. The parking garage is listed on HCAD as an improvement, so there's no reason why it wouldn't increase the appraised value. The only other option I can see for them tearing it down is to increase the marketability of property since it's within the market-based parking zone. And I would imagine that any buyer would likely raze the site anyway.

  9. If that's the case, put the traffic in a tunnel. Seems like that would solve everything.
  10. From the renderings it appears that all of blocks through the district will have protected parking lanes on both sides of the street, which would reduce driving lanes to two. Between this traffic-calming feature and increased pedestrian activity, through traffic should slow considerably. Changing the timing of the lights at Cleburne and Wheeler would help as well. Please no more tunnels.
  11. If their permits are on hold, that means they likely don't have a certificate of occupancy. Looks like reality is about catch up to Chef Bowie.
  12. Bloom (the bar across the street) has a lockout notice on the doors from both the landlord and the rented kitchen equipment vendor.
  13. A contractor working at 2409 Austin said that the work underway at the Sacco building is for temporary structural support. Apparently the arson investigation is ongoing. Once completed, they can start on the renovation. For now Sacco is relocating to 2409 Austin, possibly as soon as tomorrow.
  14. Most food trucks run generators for electricity, so ideally the solar panels and batteries would be sufficient for a majority of their daily power consumption.

  19. I would assume access will be similar to the BAPS Mandir or any other architecturally significant religious structure that has public interest. You check in, they give you a run-down of the grounds, ask you to be culturally/religiously appropriate, and send you on your way. The same is to be expected for any other church or religious property. I've visited mosques before where they provide head coverings for women and robes for men (if you're wearing shorts). I haven't looking into whether other Aga Khan community centers have similar dress codes, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do.
  20. I think the facade may be complete by then, but there's no way they have all of the units finished out in 2 months. Before NYE, maybe. I would guess Spring 2023 for first move-ins.
