Thanks Nena. A thoughtful post and well stated point of view. We don't get much of that on this site anymore it seems. It's like a whole new internet. I too believe that this particular project, of which I was very skeptical of, seems to be turning out better than I expected.

It's not just coincidence that they are the two most iconic Hines buildings downtown which are being projected.

I believe swtsig. And I expect it'll happen. But, until there's an announcement, an acknowledgement or verification by the developer, contractor or Starwood...than it's still a rumor.
-
Think the W hotel is still just rumor at this point. Developers across the street would like to make possible clients THINK that a W Hotel is planned for the lot across the street. But...it's not up to them to announce...but rumor works well for them.

Did we know they Emirates was starting A380 service in December?

Montrose. I'm so glad you took my advice. I'm so sorry you didn't find it. It's easy to miss. One of its charms actually. Next time you feel like getting tiki friki, IM me. I'll meet you there.

24 units is a lot of units for that little lot.

Awesome catch Nate.

Why do you think that the porte cochere is not completed? And...why such anticipation for the Signage? I get the feeling that it is all completed.

let us please pray.. that the MARLOWE is indeed up and running in time as per the 2017 superbowl.
we certainly do not want 100.000+ visitors viewing ongoing construction
upon that particular area... do we...

On my roof in Lower Fifth Ward. All I'll see is flashes and dust though.

Was imagining how great a big sprawling resort style hotel would be in that big lot just west of Park Lane across from the Park. Stopped by today too, with the dog (glad they let him in). Will be amazing when it's finished and filled in. Proud of it.

The Ritz and W are not on par with one another.

Luminare - It's not the site that the brochure is advertising. On page three of the PDF there is a pointer that that states "Residential High-rise 2016". But, on page two is shows "Future MATCH Arts Development"...which is correct.

Oh Max.
Not often you get to witness a Hart to Hart reference.
We could paint the fleet A blue-purple color with Orange and Red stripes.

This will be one busy, multipurpose building. Office/Hotel/Bus Station/Restaurant/Parking Garage/Lift Rail Tunnel-Station... This really feels like "outside-the-box" thinking. Love it.

Cloud. It is a pretty busy, wide street on a relatively short block. Pedestrians will likely use the crosswalks at either end of the park, where the park is very welcoming. In fact in this case, the ends of the dog park are tapered to a point. I see Dogs and dog parks a catalysts for social interaction. Not impediments. Except for bad dogs.

Come on, Cloud. As silly as saying that retail is less viable because it is across the street from a Dog Park? For those who don't like dogs, I doubt they would even notice them across the street, across 5 lanes of Traffic.
LTAWACS - Seriously? Where should city dwellers take their dogs to play, interact and do their business. Makes the neighborhood a lot more livable. For everyone.
-
And it's redundant.

Regarding the Cistern. The Sky Lawn and Pavilion is going in. Lot of work going on there. Heard a rumor even that BBP has made a decision/plan for the cistern itself. Art Space or some sort??

Aarosuf - That was the executive/concierge lounge right? It, also, would be a stellar view of the Houston Club Demo. The whole corner view was blue tarp.

"The City" turned down a deal? I can see how the city can enocourage development and even discourage other types of development. But how could the city turn down a development on private property? Or does the city own the Sakowitz building? When you talk about "The City" who are you referring to?
