  1. I've been up there, and I don't recall anything about 80 stories. I want to see the document. I guess I'll keep looking.
  2. Can someone produce an authentic FAA document that says the building was supposed to 80 stories. I can't find one myself. Until I see one I'm calling bullsh!t on the whole 80-story urban legend.
  3. Is Hines' possible second tower where the Shamrock was supposed to be?
  4. Hines doesn't appear to own or have building rights to those parking lots. Maybe Hines tried to get one of those parking lots but the owner was a dick and wouldn't sell. Or maybe they didn't try to buy it. Or maybe Hines is haggling on price to purchase one of those parking lots as I type. Or maybe they could careless about those parking lots. Or maybe someone else bought the parking lots for development. Or maybe whoever owns the parking lots likes the parking lot business. Or maybe the owner of the parking lot wants to develope something better than just an office tower, but they haven't released anything to the public about yet. Or maybe whatever.... There are many possible reasons why Hines isn't building or trying to build on those parking lots. I just don't think Hines should be made a 'bad guy' or whatever just because they're going to build on a lot that has buildings already on it instead of on a parking lot.
  5. If they're going to knock the place down, why don't they go ahead and get rid of the front parking. Build up to the damn street. As much as I love the place, I'd give my eye teeth to have it all drug up to the street throughout its entire length.
  6. No condos? That's disappointing.

If you'e going to ride stuff over and over again I'd pay the $25. Otherwise just pay per ride. I hope you like kids, because every kid in Las Vegas is there. I'd actually go on a weekday afternoon. It's a little easier to get on the rides.

Oh, and become a vampire. It'll be 100 degrees at midnight, but at least you won't also been burnt.

Take a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon or of just the strip. It's expensive, but worth the price. Maverick Helicopters is the best one.
  10. Any city can have a 'world trade center'. It's just a generic name.
  11. Great! I'm happy to see the plaza hasn't fallen to the wayside.
  12. I love it. Now put condos, a hotel, retail, and offices in, and you have some serious vertical mixed use.
  13. W Hotels are to today, like what Hard Rock Cafes/Planet Hollywoods were to the 90's. Every city wants one to show how cool they are, but when every city has gotten one...none of them are cool. It's all just 'keeping up with the Jones'.
  14. Now there's another new highrise. A 21c Museum Hotel with condos at 3rd and Brazos that will be 44 stories. http://www.statesman.com/business/content/...11/11hotel.html Njudah, maybe you will gets lots of condo highrises around the Austonian.
  15. I still can't wrap my mind the idea why you think the Austonian (not the Austinian like it should be called) needs to be surrounded by other condo towers. And the only thing that the Austonian seems to have in common with Azure and 2727 Kirby is that they're highrise condos done in glass. This is all subjective anyways. I seriously douby anyone is going to suddenly change their view. So...whatever.
  16. Wow, that's right out front. This building needs to be very show-y.
  17. Have you seen the renderings of the Austonian? It's certainly not 'run of the mill'.
  18. /\/\/\/\ How does what's going on inside a building make it awkward?
  19. The city could buy the transco tower, and then make the new cityhall. Then it would probably be the tallest cityhall in the country if not the world. I bet that would raise it's profile. Won't happen, but fun to think about.
