  2. It's the truth. Cry about it somewhere else.

  3. This is incredibly stupid on the Dallas Morning News' part. The story is the 50-60 Fortune 500 companies in Texas. What a coup! If not for the petty one-upmanship, a unified Texas would be an even greater economic force to be reckoned with. The reason is -- a lot of people outside this region don't think of Texas in terms of Houston or Dallas. They just think of Texas. When attracting large corporate relocations, which sounds better -- "We're number four and five!"? Or, "We're number one! -- take your pick of two top-10 metropolitan areas, each with a big-business-friendly atmosphere and amenities."

The Dallas "newspaper" blows for having this take.

I disagree simply because they(Dallas Area & Houston Area) are looked at seperately.A company can only move to either or.......Not both, or the whole state for that matter.

  4.

Who exactly are you btching at, Velvet? Houston isn't a person you know.

It sounds likes a one trick pony. One sad, sick, little pony.

I can see it now...People go up a little mountain, slide down a scorching hot plastic matt, burning, bruising and beating their skin into a fine hamburger like consistancy. And then go home and never come back. But not forgetting to tell all their friends about the "fun" they had.

I give it 9 months. Max.

    Now that's a funny visual :lol::lol:

  5. I could listen to you insiders battle it out all day. At some point, one of you is bound to spill something. :)

This thread is starting to evolve into a much more interesting topic than just another boring Houston/Dallas pissing match. I think it should be continued under a new topic thread so that those wierd Dallasonians don't interupt the far more interesting topic of 'Houston insider buzz' and 'dueling real estate experts' with more boring Victory crap (like anyone still cares about Victory's impact to DT Dallas) Yawn.

As lame as this thread can get, the topic is starting to get (slightly) hijacked. After all, this is the thread to come to when you're in the mood to hear Victory commercials. Hopefully, there's enough exciting stuff coming to all of DT Houston (not just the east end) that no one at HAIF will even remember Victory Park exist in a few months. It already feels so "last year" anyway. It's time to move forward and leave this thread to the Enzyte junkies.

    u are hilarious.......... :P

  6. Before i piss off the mods, i just want to say that this is not a Houston VS Dallas thing. I'm happy for DFW but i agree, it is better to have them located in one city. Dallas appears to be a stronger metro but Houston ddefinitely has a stronger city.

On the other hand, as much as i keep hearing about Dallas, Plano, Irving, Grapevine, Fort Worth competing with eachother, it makes me question how strong and unified their "metro" really is .

It really dosent matter..........it's all in the Dallas area. ;)

  7. I think I'd rather go to Schlitterbahn or the beach.

Yeah Yeah Yeah,If this was planned in The woodlands, then it would be the perfect project huh?....Get over it Guys this is different for texas......Come up and try it out before you just talk down on it........ughhhhhhhhhhhh,you guys kill me sometimes.

    Excellent description.

I rue the day my kids ask to go to Disney World. Just look at Orlando for a prime example of a city without a soul. I hope I never have to return but have a feelind I will.

    Yuk.

Ive noticed that anything that's not Houston is YUK to you.......which the idea of thinking in that mindframe is YUK to me.Be realistic sometimes.........everything is not as perfect as Houston.

  8. Well I guess the real point is that fly by night articles about shopping should probably be taken with a grain of salt. Or at least not too seriously. But it's your right to lap up all the promotional muck you can handle if you want to. Good luck with that.

If you want to base Houston's fashion forewardness on one article from Atlanta (of all places), then you should probably read it better before making an opinion. After all, Houston was mentioned (however brief) in that article for what it's worth.

You are right ,I apologize. B)

  9. Because you can never have too many articles about which cities in the South are the best for shopping :)

.This is from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (registration required unfortunately)

To be honest I've always thought that Houston was just as Fashion forward as Dallas, but they didn't even mention Houston in that Article......So  I guess not.

  10. Well call it what you want. I think its even more silly for you to take that comment i made about Houston and Dallas sharing too many similarites out of context. There are a lot of things Houston has done first and then Dallas did. The Galleria is an example. Then again there are things that Dallas has done that Houston shortly followed such as: Mass transit and Urbanization. There's exclusives that Dallas has such as Victory Plaza Screens, which is something that Houston doesn't have and doesn't have any intention of getting. The only real exclusive i think Houston has is the beach and that's really Houston metro, not Houston.

Maybe my earlier post came off a tad confrontational but Point is, i think each city should have certain things that can't be found in the next city, especially since they represent the same state. That's my opinion. If that sounds like ramblings of a seven year old then that's too damn bad.

Oh don't worry.........Houston and Dallas will never,I repeat never,be the same...........As Midtowncoog or 2112 would say..."Print it".(can't remeber which of u guys said that  )

  11. The "Dallas Look" is extremely popular all over the world right now. Everyone wants their clothes to look like they were designed in Dallas. I hear, all the budding superstars in the fashion industry make it their life's goal to move to Dallas some day, but only the very fortunate few ever actually make it. NYC and Paris have to settle for the losers that can't make it in the Dallas fashion scene.

And your right again!!! > :)

  12. Dang is there anything that Houston can do without Dallas doing it also? First it was Houston House of Blues opening up and then Dallas has one opening up shortly after. Now Houston gets a park, now Dallas gets a park. Not to rant, but its taking away from the uniqueness of these two cities.

Is the Houston House of Blues open yet? If not then We are getting one first.Yes Houston has a new park project downtown, and Dallas is starting a park project that's Part of a larger Park Masterplan for the entire CBDthat has been planned for years.it just so happen to be starting around the same time.So we are not trying to do everything Houston is doing it's just that the projects that are just now being presented and announced in and around Houston are somewhat similar to the projects that's been Planned and

announced in Dallas awhile back.

  13. You know what water Dallasboi. If you can claim Ft Worth, we can sure as hell can claim Galveston.

Well....as long as you already know that it's rediculous to say ....then its okay wit me....The reason I said "what water" is because if someone went to houston looking for a city on the water...they wouldn't find it.Just like you guys say we shouldn't say we have a port because ther is no water involved........Don't get me wrong, there is a body of water somewhere downthere....but it's nowhere near downtown,or better yet...nowhere in the city limits..........but feel free to correct me.

  14. That does it. I'm moving to Savannah.:lol::lol:

Let's keep the Dallas vs. Houston competition going. I love it. Because, when all is said and done, and the stats are in in every category .... guess who's yo daddy? It ain't Dallas. :P

P.S. Texas is fortunate to have three or four huge metro areas that can kick other states' metro areas right out of the water. But Houston is on the water. We do have that on Dallas. Other than that, the cities are awesome mean metro machines.

    What water?
