I won't comment on why your friends look at you funny, as that is your business. However, your comment on Dallas' "mistake" in building Victory is incorrect. If you know the history of the Victory development, you would know that previously, this was a non-tax producing brownfield. The City and developers cleaned up the brownfield, allowing billions of dollars of tax producing buildings to be constructed. Victory is as far from a "mistake" as one could get.

This was not done because of Dallas "insecurity". It was done to return useless land to tax producing status. Comments by Dallas residents are one thing. Actions by the City of Dallas to improve the tax base are quite another. You should learn to distinguish between the two.

i don't think we should discontinue the DFW forum. This website wouldn't be half as entertaining if it didn't exist. Before i joined this forum, i used to look on the olf HAIF website and it was more entertaining. The mods let a little flaming go on but now days they won't even allow someone to say Dallas or Houston sucks.

I'm not trying to keep a fued going here seeing how i think both of these developments are awesome. But i have to call you out on the 5 minute walk claim. My girlfriend and i actually walked and timed the area from AA center to West End. It wasn't 5 minutes. We weren't lolly-gagging either, we were walking at a brisk pace. I understand how you can say that the walk doesn't feel that long because there's things to look at on the way like the new restaurants/bars, W Hotel and the club beneath it, and the House of Blues. However, i do think its a 5 minute walk from the Hooters to West End but definitely not from AA center.

If it takes you 5 min to get to the west end from hooters then you need to ride bikes......guys this shouldn't even take two mins..

I agree with C2H. DT Houston is going to become much more urban and less uniform (like Victory).

And maybe it's just me .......but I also noticed how houstonians on this board are very thrilled that they finnally have something to brag about and be proud of.............maybe it will tone down some of the bickering back an forth that went on when everybody was unsure about HP ever breaking ground.

No.........what I'm saying is more people who don't have cars or who don't desire to use them will have a viable option to use the train.As of now its not an option.For example:The mockingbird station...............alot of poeple may drive to it ,but on the other hand alot more would probably ride dart and get off at the mockingbird station.

It's the "GRAND OPENING" of a big bar........with a huge stage..........with live music......and a free after party(for ticket holders).so it's not too bad.

American Airlines has demanded that it's name be taken off of AA Center, stating that an airline cannot afford the bad press from being associated with a team that "crashes and burns".

In other developments, Dallas Victory, in recognition of the recent flops by the Mavericks, Stars and Cowboys , has announced it will change the name of the development to Loser Lane. House condominium will be renamed Flophouse. While Ghost Bar seriously considered changing its name to Choke Bar, W management announced that it would keep the name Ghost Bar, in honor of Dirk Nowitzski's performance in the playoffs.

I think it refers to someone who enjoys stirring up trouble for the pure enjoyment of it. I could be wrong. There may be a more accurate word for what you do here Dallasboi, but I will be banned if I post it. I'm sure there is an even worse word for what I do around here too.

Don't get me wrong, a little muckraking can be an entertaining thing. But, you've got to be prepared for the consequences and just a little responsible when you're doing it.

I never had a problem with you posting that rendering or being excited over it (I would have been too!), but to keep believing in it after we all know what we do - is going to get you in trouble. You say you can't wait to see the expression on my face when they build it? Well you should have seen the expression on my face when I discovered the source of the rendering. Unlike you or me, that sister has some serious muckracking issues. Just think of the time she put in those renderings in that post from 2005.

Don't let my quick defence of Houston fool you, I'm not particularly happy that I'll probably never get to see that cool tower with my own eyes even if they were going to build it Dallas.

Not to encourage you but, it is possible that the info that rosewood had could be based in fact in some bizarre way, and that a residential tower of the same size is going in that same spot. But I am convinced that is it NOT going to be the building in that rendering. But cheer up, it may even be cooler.

well actually theres a building already proposed for the Hank Haney site and it is very impressive....I don't know when they plan to break ground or if it will ever happen(for the sake of you guys ).So I know that SOMETHING is getting built there.

You might notice that no one took swipes at the actual building in the rendering - only the source, the lack of credibility, the gullibility, and the irresponsibility of someone who starts new threads without bothering to do even the slightest bit of research or confirmation.

As far a HCC. It may amount to nothing, but at least it is based in reality. There at least is a legitimate source of the photo. The rendering came from an actual architecture firm's website. But with no annoucement, I have my excitement under control, and wouldn't be posting that rendering on architecture forums based out of other cities.
