  1. Exactly! How you make a statement like "and Houston's skyline sits kinda dark?? Maybe they think Dallas is, dare I say it, ..more vibrant. It certainly looks it." with a straight face is beyond me. I am in Big-D at least once a month and it's downtown area (including Victory) is no where near as vibrant as Houston's.

I don't make that statement to incite a flame war, but when biased, and unfounded statements like this are made, they have to be called out.

I wouldnt go as far as to say nowhere near .....I am a proud proud dallasite...and I think houston's downtown does have a somewhat bigger and faster pace about it......but at the same time I think the overall feel of DtD is more inviting and pleasent to the eye......it almost makes up for it not being full of people bustling around.....and...don't get me wrong....I feel; that Dallas is spearheading in the direction to become the most energetic, surprising and shockingly attractive CBD's in the state.........Its just too much stuff in the pipeline.......Its like ...all of the peices to the puzzle have just arrived...and now were in the process of unwrapping the plastic and putting everything together to create the big picture........."THE ABSOLUTE BEST URBAN EXPERIENCE IN THE SOUTH"......IMO

  2. Yeah, there we go. I'm glad to see early construction stages for phase two now. All the universities will greatly benefit from the rail options, as well as Third Ward. We have to keep it coming though. I think that rail transit is much more important than looks; it spurrs traffic and commuter solutions that are ten and twenty-fold.

Are u from Dallas or Houston?...This article is about DART.....But yet...3rd Ward is in Houston....Huh?

  3. according to the texas transportation institute, from 1982 to 2005, Dallas' congestion seems to have grown. if the system was effective I would think the opposite would be occurring. their study says total delay growth in dallas is just under NY, LA and chicago for that 23 yr timeframe.

    TTI study

As we all know....Texas is a car friendly state........it is not in our culture to take advantage of mass transit because we all LOOOOOve our cars......However.....again......Dallasites ARE catching on....moreso than when we first got the train.....so thats why it hasn't really helped in the past...Now push has came to shove and people are REALLY looking for alternatives for all of the parkinglots we call freeways here in North Texas.

  4. It sure is. There was a story out saying Portland's extensive rail system isn't helping too much with traffic. Same with Dallas.

Yes.....We still have traffic...Every big city does and will for a long time.....However......Since our traffic Has been a little worse in the last year or so....Dallasites are really catching on to the train thing.....The trains are PACKED to capacity every morning and evening to the point where its almost un safe.......Dart is now adding longer and more frequent service to accomodate this surge in ridership...........so eventually it will help with the traffic if all of these people are waking up to mass transit.........Im pretty sure Houston Trains ar busy also......and.......they could be even more effective if the system actually went somewhere....my two pennies.... ;)

  5. If Fort Worth gets some LRT funding...then Houston should have no problem getting some.

I doubt it....TO ME....Houston has more attractive trains on their light rail system....BUT.......As far as the system itself.......it seems a bit threw together.......not planned tht well.....dosent serve enough people & neigborhoods....its more like an attraction...like a monorail at the zoo or something...I don't know......And since its not planned very well...it makes it seem that Houston dosent have a vision..or "BIG" picture to focus on when it comes to light rail...so...that makes federal funding harder to come by....Ft. worth on the other hand.....Will be joined at the seam with DART....so it makes it a more attractive investment.....THIS IS WHAT I THINK>>>>>>>>>not a debate starter...thnx in advance

  6. I would love for you to show me where I said downtown Dallas trumps DTFW. I gave my impressions of FW coming from someone who has never been there. And I even said they were clearly my impressions, yours may differ. What's laughable is your belief that my very SUBJECTIVE opinions are wrong and your very SUBJECTIVE opinions are right. I would never be so stupid to try to argue something so moot. We might as well argue which color is more pretty..blue or red.

    :D

You don't even know what Atlanta's economy is made up of. Atlanta is just a regional transportation hub. Companies like Coca-Cola, Cartoon Network, TBS, Delta, and Home Depot is not going to eat up the companies that are located in Houston.

....Uhhhhhh...we  all know houston is the best...

  8. The spire restoration is nearing completion (but the clock hasn't been fixed yet and scaffolding is still up). The white rings will move up or down depending on the change of temperature and the rest of the spire will change from red to green depending on good/bad weather.

Great photos from Ninjatune on the Dallas Forum. http://forum.dallasmetropolis.com/showpost...p;postcount=488

To me.....this is going to to be the most attaractive part of downtown when all of the dust clears...

  9. Houston and DFW are pretty much on the rise. Of course, could there be a new trend of Houston surpassing Dallas in various market sizes. (e.g. economic areas, population areas, TV markets, etc.)

Ive always notice houston winning over Dallas in alot of stuff so that trend is not new.....I think its becoming more equal now.

  10. Because people around here get tired of "some" Dallas posters billing their city as something it's not. We also get tired of coming to the DFW forum in respect, while you and a few others (not all) come here to mostly start trouble.

You would think that we would get used to it, but for some reason we don't.

    o.....ok

  11. Because there is no water around Dallas for some 200 miles or so.

Well Heck. My mailbox is a place where goods arrive and depart. But I dont go around claiming silly things like the "port of 2112"

Having said that, this is a great project for Fort Worth.

    ;)

ok....let me get this right Houstonians..............when dallas announces the arival of an inlan PORT ....we get this huge thread with thousands of post telling us how stupid it is to name it a "PORT" because of the lack of water oh ...and how we are trying to mislead the world and trick them into thinking that dallas has a nvigable river with a ship channel......but.....when Ft.worth....wich is only a merely 30 miles west of dallas and sits on the same "DITCH" of a river called the trinity....announces the same Identical project.............its suddenly the best idea in the world and its so great...not arguing thats its a great project but what happened to all the BS that came with the dallas port? Why don't the same antics apply to Ft. Worth ?Why was it oly bad when we came up with the Idea?...I don't understand you guys!!!!!!!!!

  12. I am pretty sure that Houston has more consulates than Dallas, which in my opinion means more than having a "World Trade Center".

You guys never cease to amaze me!!!!! Yall insist on finding something in Houston That is in some way better than The world Trade Center in Dallas....when it's been said that nothing compares...........That was not the purpose for this thread. but of course Dallas is always inferior to Houston............We all know that.

  13. There really isn't that many high-end condos to go around. Atlanta is going through that same problem (they seem to be overbuilding).

    Link

So if you feel like there isn't enough high-end condo's to go around....then why would you question the Dallas market before you posted this satement?....And the atlanta comment contridicts the first part of your statement...so that's why I commented to you posting this because you didn't know what stance to take ....and like I said earlier....for you to be one who downplays everything dallas announces...what would make you so ecited to post about this.....It is a nice tower........but since this is somewhat out of your character it just made me wonder....So mods thanks again

  14. How about "Keep it on topic, please"? <_<

I guess you deleted my stuff because I said the word "hell"? But you didn't bother to erase Trea's comment and he said"hell" before I did.......Oh but he is from houston <_< ...look all I'm pointing out is .....you guys can make me out to be whoever you please...but when it come to deleting comments ....I think all of the "MODS" should be fair about it and not bias.......So now that you left his comment and deleted mine....it appears that I stirred the up .

  15. Damn! Does Dallas even have that big off a market to support that?

okay....u started the thread....So why didn't you post your concerne when u first started it?....It seems like u posted and waited for negative responses and then you added your skeptisism of the project........I dunno it just seems kinda weird......And you are normally the person who has something to go against the Dallas grain.......so thats another reason it seems funny that you would start this thread......But it WILL get built ............just watch! ;)

This will not get built. With the smallest unit starting at $1M, there simply aren't enough buyers between this, Ritz II and the Mandarin.

    oh please!!!
