Basically. I like a few italian places. Capri Pasta in the woodlands is the best. Papa Mio and Mandola's are very good also. This is just a good deal and I've never found anywhere else that sells it fresh.

I meant to go but it closed before I ever went. Now he just sells to restaurants and people. It's pretty good stuff at a reasonable price.

So I tried this place called Fabio's Fresh Pasta today off Shepherd and Alabama. All I have to say is AMAZING. He sells pasta by the pound, I got gnocchi for $6 and spinach fettucini for $4.85. He also has imported tiramisu for $4.50 and homemade sauce for $5.50. The most ironic thing is he supplies 48 restaurants in Houston with fresh pasta. Birraporetti's, Arturo's, among others. How people don't know about this place is beyond me because the restaurants buy his stuff and upcharge multiple times over for it.

The reason is because Majorca has salsa dancing on Wednesdays and a salsa dancing school called Strictly Street Salsa meets there on Wednesday evenings. Otherwise I never see anyone at Majorca except at brunch sometimes.

I like those. I think anyone that lives there knows what comes with the territory though. -

There is a significant portion with just 3 lanes total though, or am I getting confused with Alabama -
Lower Westheimer Road Construction

Why? It would improve speed and not mess with roadways. -

That makes sense but I believe there was also an outrage from highland village businesses that had some (or more than some) impact on the rerouting to Richmond. Richmond itself is just a 3 lane road for a decent portion, does that mean the land on the sides would have been seized for university line? Also, for the expansion, are all the streets that the rail is being expanded to previously 5 lane roads? -
Lower Westheimer Road Construction

That really makes no sense. At some level, METRO, or someone, should have the power to do what's best for the overall citizen base, not a few neighborhoods or businesses. All the people saying otherwise are hypocrites because the freeways were built with the same concept. -

I have a solution put a rail down the middle two lanes of westheimer, or dedicated bus lanes -
Agreed. Just makes me so angry bob Lanier threw away the monorail plan

The fact we had a Galveston-Houston rail 100 years ago but not now just shows how the attitude of this country has shifted towards greed over time.

Houston Galveston railway was an incredible feat of engineering considering when it was built. It's incredible we still have no such rail at this time. Just goes to show the power of lobbying. -

I find it rather pathetic that 100 years ago the Houston-Galveston rail was running fine but now we have no such thing. Just goes to show that at one time people cared about people and now it's all about money. Convincing people that cars are the best thing since God was no small feat. Just makes me shake my head. -
The Houston Airport System recently released a new plan and schedule for Hobby Airport’s international expansion. According to a presentation shown to Houston City Council Feb. 4, Houston’s airport authority plans to build a new parking garage and a new concourse, expand its terminal and make roadway modifications at Hobby to accommodate international flights. The project is scheduled over the course of more than two years. During the terminal expansion, HAS plans to build a new ticket counter, add six additional security checkpoint lanes, add five new arrival and departure gates and add a new Federal Inspections Services facility for international travelers to go through Customs and Border Protection. The FIS facility itself will have its own baggage claim, 16 passport inspection stations and allow for 400 to 800 passengers to travel through it during peak hours. Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) led the push for Houston City Council to approve plans for Hobby’s expansion as an international airport. The Dallas-based airline hopes to fly international routes to Latin America out of Hobby. The city approved the expansion plans in May 2012, and Southwest agreed pay for building the new terminal. In the recent presentation, HAS estimated the terminal will cost Southwest about $150 million. Corgan Associates Inc. will design the terminal, but a contractor has not yet been selected. HAS plans to pay for and construct the new parking garage and roadway modifications. The new parking garage will have more than 2,500 parking spaces and cost about $55 million, and the roadway modifications, which will cost about $12 million, will include putting in an elevated roadway. Construction on the project is expected to break ground this May, and vertical construction is expected to be complete in September 2015.

I've been to plenty of pedestrian streets around the world and they're doing just fine. Istanbul, buenos aires, Panama City, London, Denver, San Francisco, Rome, the list goes on.

If you don't have parking and the store is good enough, people will still come. Diagonal parking only re-emphasizes the notion that car is God. Someone taking away that subliminal idea can do a lot.

There is plenty of street parking on both sides of Bagby. The requirement of parking for most businesses is what makes this city an aesthetic disaster.

More parking and less landscaping? Typical houston mindset

Parks have nothing to do with retail, it's a walkable green space, which is always a good thing.

So we can have tunnels but not subways?
