  1. I don't think anyone was saying it's historical, it's just been around a while. When was the last time you were there? I don't think it's fair to generalize the clientele.
  2. It was a little too dark, but trust me it's still dark. Besides the additional lighting will help prevent what happened with the previous furniture. The Pimm's Cup cocktail is yummy!
  3. I'm not sure about how long, but I do know that if you haven't been there in a long time, it has changed. For the better I think. I remember the old days when it was super dark and the couches were seriously grimey. Since Mike Wells bought it a few years ago he improved things like added more lighting and got new furniture. I actually went to a political campaign meeting for Michael Berry there when he was running for mayor! I thought that was a pretty cool move on his part. I'm curious as to how long it has been there. Anyone?
  4. Well hopefully someone does something with it. My office is down the street so I pass it several times a day and it's an eyesore, not to mention the fact that they never got rid of all the shady people that live there or whatever they do there. They are always outside. We walk on the other side of the street when going to lunch.
  5. I just got a response from our architectural partner in Biloxi regarding any historical sites left in Biloxi for the person who asked about it and said they will be visiting. Unfortunately the sad response is below. Well, there is not much left of the historic facilities in and around Biloxi. Almost everything but the high rise hotels and casinos were wiped out so I don
  6. THANK GOD FOR THE TUNNELS!!! My office is on the opposite end of downtown where there aren't many restaurants. I also have several client meetings over on the other side as well. Anyone noticed that it has been raining for a month!!!??? I would have been screwed without the tunnels. Aside from the rain, being in a suit I would be drenched in sweat by the time I got to lunch or a meeting, then drenched again once I got back to the office. Besides the fact I don't have to smell piss and deal with pan handlers like I do when I walk on the street. Thumbs up for the tunnels.
  7. No kidding! In fact, I had a new business meeting on Tuesday with a fast growing energy recruiting firm. I did a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis exercise with the execs and they said that an upcoming opportunity is that several large energy companies are coming to Houston which will create a lot of job opps, but a threat is other recruiting firms taking their clients. The market is good.
  8. She's gorgeous! Are you kidding me? She had a freaking baby. You people need to find something more substantial to talk about. Seriously.
  9. You are one screwed up dude. I feel sorry for any woman that would even consider dating you, forget marriage. I take spin class with Dominique and she looks fantastic. She could kick your ass any day. I would LOVE to see what you look like. I'm sure you're nothing to brag about. Ugh, I hope I don't see your posts on here anymore since this was from a year ago. Disgusting.
  10. Well apparently St. Louis' delis are the protocol for true Italian-style delis. I guess a lot of Italians settled there. Not really sure. Not really sure what the differences are between say an Arthur Avenue Italian deli in the Bronx and one in St. Louis. And it isn't Monica Pope's new place, that's on Sawyer in an old building that was a bar called Beaver's. She's gotta a lot of remodeling to do with that place. A bunch of vagrants hang around there too. I pass by it everyday.
  11. That's cheap. I paid $230 for airfare a couple of weeks ago which is way cheap. I will be curious to hear what you think of the room because that is a super cheap rate for 5 nights. You will have fun regardless.
  12. Pap-Sorry, I assumed you were a guy. Nice to see other women posting on this forum as it is definitely male dominated. Sorry about all of this drama and the problems with your son. I hope everything works out and you actually get to keep the money.
  13. New Kids for sure are the cheesiest!!! I actually always hated them, even when everyone thought they were cool. I did like MC Hammer though. lol
  14. What? What does that have to do with anything? Or even this topic?
  15. Who said anything about Zaza? He said he wants a casual place.
  16. A St. Louis-style deli will be replacing the antique store at 1920 Washington, next to the Corkscrew wine bar. Not sure when it will be opening yet, but I will keep you posted on their progress.
  17. I love Char Bar. Mike is cool. Good music and strong drinks. Crazy mix of people too! The problem with Char Bar is you would have to sit upstairs to sit with a group because there'sonly like 2 tables downstairs and upstairs isn't as fun. Go to Zimm's. They let you order food from Thai Stix next door. They have pretty good food.
  18. Busy and loud. They have a DJ so it's gonna be crowded. I like that place though. Kelvin Arms in the Village is pretty cool. The bar upstairs at Benjy's is cool too but probably not in shorts. El Pueblito on Richmond has a good patio. I like Zimm's on Montrose also. You can be casual or dressy there. Just thinking of places in the vacinity you mentioned.
  19. This guy is on a budget. Bellagio and Mandalay are way out of his league for this trip. And THEhotel at Mandalay is like $800 a night. Tilman Fertitta (Landry's) bought the Golden Nugget about a year ago and toally renovated it. He also put in a Vic & Anthony's. I hear the rooms are pretty nice and you can get really good deals since it's downtown.
  20. Possibly. Is this guy the one who lost his job recently? Kind of a weird amount though don't you think? $440? $400, $450 or $500 makes more sense, but maybe. He said he had something to do this afternoon and hasn't responded to my question about how he knew it was under the mat. He said his kid told him something but he didn't say if that was before or after he discovered the money. Either way, do you seriously think the cops will give it back to him?
