The Galleria Mall At 5085 Westheimer Rd.
HoustonBoy replied to TreaderCRC's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
NO! The above "wink" says it all! I'll take anything RC is willing to throw at us, but the Galleria tower seemed too underwhelming for it to be a RC development. When I think RC I think of their hotel in Hong Kong and that's my dream for Houston. I obviously don't expect a 100+ story building, but 50+ would be so nice. I trust RC anyway so I'm sure whatever they do will be glamorous, I just hope it's large. -
This is a great photo don't get me wrong, but am I the only one who hates this view of downtown? It looks so un-urban and boring. If they sold the land and added some buildings/density it could actually be a great area especially with Houston City Hall. Just my opinion, but I want to know if anyone else agrees.

Catalyst: Residential High-Rise At 1475 Texas Ave.
HoustonBoy replied to TowerSpotter's topic in Downtown
This tower looks great! I just think that the city should stop making luxury towers and start putting up basic low income towers. Those, to me at least, make a city also look very nice and urban.- 911 replies

How are the loads on Houston - Seoul? We keep on looking at airlines adding routes, but some rumors say that this one might actually be canceled. I hope not!

Marriott Marquis: GRB Convention Center Hotel At 1777 Walker St.

I don't see why Houston doesn't invest a little bit more on the stations? I understand the money situation and general cheapness the city has at times, but Houston could've easily made it so that only people with tickets can board the train. Have essentially a glass box or walls and to get in the box area to board the train you need a purchased ticket to slide the door open. I was in Istanbul last week and they had such a great example of this, but I forgot to take a picture. I'm really happy with the effort and interest the city has put into downtown, and I hope they continue improving.- 2,096 replies

I feel like the fact that this could be a W is blinding everyone from seeing that it's a huge ugly box on top of a bulky/blank garage. I still want it to get built though.

Post Oak Shopping Center At 1703-1751 Post Oak Blvd.
HoustonBoy replied to suzerain's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
This is all speculation and it's just a comment an unknown swamplot user posted, but there're some pretty bold claims! (feel free to take topic down if already created or unnecessary) A 50 story Ritz Carlton, a 50 Story W Hotel, and 3 55 story Trump Towers. A couple other improvements but you can read it here. http://swamplot.com/comment-of-the-day-my-galleria-dream-is-bigger-than-yours/2014-06-16/ -

Is there any new news about this one? I really hope so. -
I think Apple stores are so wanted because they're very urban and they are destinations as well. As for H&M it is also a destination store and it's low priced.

I wish they could've remodeled and restored the building and on the little lot where the park was put up a tall very skinny tower

Niels Esperson Building, Partial Conversion To Multifamily
HoustonBoy replied to MidtownCoog's topic in Downtown
They should line all walls underground with faux brick. The whole system looks creepy and way too industrial. -

I was really hoping they'd somehow incorporate the "Savoy Houston" sign, but oh well. I don't think the colors are final, but I could obviously be wrong.

All the pictures are awesome! Thanks! Random question, but how is the Forever 21 doing downtown? It's kind of the only mainstream retail and I hope it doesn't fail, but I've seen it empty many times.

I think the absence of masonry reflects society's uninterest in the small details that come together to make one beautiful thing and are now interested in the big picture; the shape and design of the building as a whole.
