pineda Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 Windsor Hills Surveillance Cameras Cause ControversySurveillance cameras have appeared in one Woodlands neighborhood -- and some nearby residents aren't happy about it. Homes in the Windsor Hills subdivision are next to the W. G. Jones National Forest -- and residents say people drive to the forest through their neighborhood, heading for illegal activity like drug dealing in the forest. So some residents, tired of the traffic, have put up surveillance cameras aimed at the street. One resident says he knows of at least one car that regularly cuts through the neighborhood to stop at the forest that has turned back upon seeing the cameras. But neighbors at the end of Peoples Road in Windsor Hills say the cameras are pointed at their homes -- and they don't like their privacy being invaded by the cameras, so they're speaking out about it.But a Montgomery County Sheriffs Department spokesman says there's little that can be done about the cameras, since such cameras don't fall under the legal definition of "illegal photography." bachanon Posted December 13, 2004 Posted December 13, 2004 hmmmm, it sounds like security for free to me. what are they (the complaining residents) worried about? are the cameras mounted in a way that they can view inside homes? if not, i think it is not a problem. perhaps a barrier should be installed to prevent entry to the state forest.
