wxman
I would not mind it being a little pricy. Here's the thing...they are going to have to advertise outside of Houston and Texas. This is going to have to be a national campain if they want to be pricy. People in Houston have a Astrowold mentality. You get what you pay for folks. If it had to be $50 a ticket, it better be Disney style. From the sounds of it, it will be. But back to my point, the park will have a bit of trouble in the long term if they don't get out of Houston. (Advertising that is)

When you deal with millions of people, rules must be strict and enforced.
Mister X
Sounds like things are moving right along. Here is a link to a new Chronicle article regarding Earth Quest Adventure Zone. It seems like every time there is an update the park's name changes a little. With each new report, the park sounds more likely to become a reality. I can't wait to see some detailed renderings of this place.http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nb/hum...ws/5012480.htmlHere is a Fox 26 news report that was done back in June. The guy being interviewed said that one of the park's roller coasters will go into a volcano. And there will be "numerous" rides as well. There's even a shot of an aerial map that shows the exact location of where the park will be in New Caney.http://www.myfoxhouston.com/myfox/pages/Ho....1.1&sflg=1 Edited August 3, 2007 by Mister X

Trae
sarcasm?Nope. None at all. I don't know how you could see that as competiton. For a family in Alabama that wants to go see Mickey Mouse, would they go to Hong Kong, or the one right down there in Florida? Unless they are loaded with cash, they would go to the one in Florida. lockmat
http://www.marlinatlantis.com/communities_Developments.htmlRoll over White Stone and it looks like it's right near Earthquest. I wonder if that's an indication of something?(same company developing earthquest)-----------"We felt that Montgomery County had a more aggressive and accomplished group and a personal sense of commitment in that they really understood the educational part of all this -- that it was not just a money-making project," Lessem says. At the earliest, Dinosaur City would open in 2010 or 2011, assuming a 2008 ground-breaking target is met. mdock
Marlin Atlantis owns 1,500 acres that was purchased before the dinosaurs came calling. The park would be located on the west side of US59.
KimberlySayWhat
Earth Quest Adventures is mentioned breifly in this Chronicle article about the development in Montgomery County. I was beginning to the project was dead.Bulldozers are clearing land at nearly every intersection along U.S. 59, making room for new shopping centers and restaurants.New hotels and motels are in the works, spurred by the dinosaur project. Five are slated to begin construction this spring, McCrady said. The dinosaur park/theme resort and a dinosaur institute are projected to bring 1,000 new jobs to the area and more than 1 million visitors each year, he said. The park site is on the west side of U.S. 59, just north of FM 1485.East county beat out 72 other sites across the country, said Don Holbrook, site adviser for the park. The earth-friendly park will be designed by Don Lessum, paleontologist, author and adviser on the blockbuster movie Jurassic Park. It will offer education through entertainment and will include dinosaur exhibits, an IMAX theater, an aquarium and a hotel. The institute will be a separate research and educational facility. Construction on the park is slated to begin late this year, Holbrook said. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headli...ro/5473070.html Edited January 22, 2008 by KimberlySayWhat

I don't know much, but I just figured the players involved were too big and serious for this to fall through. An older article mentions they did a nation wide search to find the best place to put this thing.
txshady
When I was 14-17 or so my parent's and my friend's parents would drop us off about 4-5 times a summer. We never caused any mischief but I'm sure there were plenty of similar aged kids getting dropped off there for the day.Same here, parents usually dropped us off while they went and did their errands. Trae
It would be fun just to watch it being built. I understand construction begins in 2008 and ends in 2011/12 if all goes according to schedule. This is a big deal!Any news?
Mister X
February 22, 2008 the EMCID Board, Dino Don & Marlin/Atlantis announced the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the development of the EarthQuest Resort. The developer showed the plans for the 500 acre site and included features. Ground breaking is now planned for 2nd Quarter of 2009http://www.communitychamber.com/custom2.asp?pageid=3007500 acres now? Cool! I can't wait to see some renderings of the park. I was hoping that we would have seen some by now, but it sounds like everything is still moving forward. Mister X
Here's the latest article I could find about the park. It's dated Feb. 20, 2008http://ourtribune.com/article.php?id=2813I'm not sure there is really anything thing new in this article that we haven't heard before. It says the park will be on 150 acres and should open by 2010, so it doesn't sound like it was based on the most recent information (could be a matter of interpretation). But it does mention something about an 'arctic room' attraction, a 4D theatre and some other attractions.I wish we would start seeing some articles that had some interviews with the actual developers of the park. So far, I think almost all the articles I've seen are interviews with Montgomery county officials. I want to see some detailed renderings and comments from Don Lessum, himself. I'll take what I can get, tho.But as long as people are still writing articles and county officials are still talking about it, at least there is a good reason to believe that the project is still moving forward. Mister X
Another article from March 4, 2008http://www.hcnonline.com/site/news.cfm?new...35656&rfi=6I noticed on a local theme park forum that there was a posting that states that there are finally some new drawings on display at the EMCID office that show the layout of the park. The drawings were not posted on the forum yet but it was reported that they show two large coasters and some other rides. This is what was listed. The Volcano CoasterDueling Birds of Prey CoasterGlazier Mountain Bobsled DinoCanyon Raft RideA Parachute DropA Zoo TramA Submarine AdventureA Skyway to Dinoland"and lots of other stuff". I've gotta get my butt up there and snap some pictures of this stuff (assuming they exist). Hopefully these drawings will be released to the media soon. I went to the website but I didn't see a physical street address. Here is the link. Maybe you can find it.http://www.emctx.com/default.htmThere is a phone number on the website. So I guess I will call them at some point and find out where these drawings are. I'm dying to see how big this park might be and what it will look like.
