august948
If very little means going to crystal clear beaches and mountains maybe we agree. Also there isn't much historic stuff either. Every place has it's own unique qualities. We don't have mountains or a lot of major historical landmarks but what we do have is an incredible diversity of food. Houston's motto should be "come hungry, leave happy". We don't have a huge list of historical places to visit, but there are a few... San Jacinto battlefield and the US TexasNASA/Johnson Space CenterBayou Bend1940 Air Terminal MusuemGeorge RanchGalveston's strand, the Elissa, the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum, the railroad museum, the Lone Star Flight Museum, 1894 Grand Opera House, Moody mansion and various other old homes, Seawolf Park. That doesn't include the various other museums around town and is enough to engage tourists for 6 or 7 days. Add in the museum district (and other) museums, the zoo, Hermann Park, shopping, dining, exploring the various immigrant and ethnic communities, exploring Downtown and Montrose and you can easily put together an itinerary that goes on for weeks.
