Neutra In The Woodlands?

i just had lunch at beck's prime in grogan's mill. we sat out on the lake by the resort and conference center. after feeding the ducks and enjoying the surroundings, a beaver-like rodent swam up near our table. we were thinking it might be a beaver until it came out of the water and did not have the flat tail. it had a rat's tail! it looks like what i've seen on tv as a "neutra". are these things in southeast texas?

my picturesque lunch in the nature-focused woodlands was interrupted by........NATURE!!!

has anyone else seen these creatures?
