It has pretty good coverage."the President approved a Joint Resolution of the 84th Congress, declaring IN GOD WE TRUST the national motto of the United States."I'd thought E Pluribus Unum was our national motto - turns out that it's the motto of The Great Seal of the United States. Learn something new every day... This is also when "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance. Congress was very concerned at the time with distinguishing the US from those "godless communists", the USSR. They figured that invoking God's name while worshipping a graven image like the flag should do the trick. I must say, good call. Look at how "Godlike" the US has become. Fringe
Congress must have been very religious during the 50's when they approved "In God We Trust" as our national motto. It was also during the 50's when they added the words "Under God" to our Pledge of Allegiance.
