saveferris
velvet taco coming to former jack-in-the-box on shepherd per the houston business journal, " A Dallas-based taco chain is set to open its third Houston location later this year. Velvet Taco, which already has two locations in Houston — one on Washington Avenue and the other on Westheimer Road in Montrose — will open its 11th location at 2001 N. Shepherd Drive this October, Velvet Taco President Clay Dover told the Houston Business Journal. “Houston is a great city, and as we begin to look at the areas around, we saw the site on Shepherd as a great opportunity to get people,” Dover said. “There’s a lot of development and growth going on there; there’s a lot of new restaurants that are (being built) along Shepherd.” Velvet Taco “jumped” on the location, a former Jack in the Box, as soon as it became available. The location is just blocks away from the new Heights H-E-B and across the street from The Burger Joint's second location, which is set to open this spring, per the Houston company's website. Although Velvet Taco looked at several locations in Houston, Dover said, Shepherd was the most appealing. Velvet Taco has already gutted the shell of the former Jack in the Box and will start construction in July. The Shepherd location will be Velvet Taco’s second-ever drive-thru and first in Houston. Customers can order their tacos ahead of time on the app, online or through the phone. The space spans 2,500 square feet and will seat 100 total — 60 inside and 40 on the patio. Velvet Taco will hire 40 to 50 employees for the space, including management. "

That's a negative, the Jack in the Box is next to it. The Washington Avenue location has been home to a few other businesses in the last 10 or so years including "Manor" and "The Rig". It doesn't show up on my records as a chain, either at least to my records.
