Now here's a little op-ed for my part aimed at no one in particular.

We all have access to the internet. It's like having the world at your finger tips. We can check our assumptions, facts-even spelling! I hate being wrong so I try my best to at least have my facts when it comes to history, politics, etc...

As far as opinion goes-we all have them and have the right to express and disagree. And we should. That's all I got.

I concur. This is why I'm a stickler for spelling (not so much on grammar though). www.dictionary.com How much more simple could that be?? Also, with sites like google - how could you not look up your facts first??

For the record, I blame people from both parties and all different forms of government for their "response". But I most blame Micheal Brown, that FEMA dude, because at least they and the rest of the world knew how bad things in New Orleans were and he didn't. I think Bush screwed up for the people he hired, but Micheal Brown didn't do what he was supposed to. HE should have apologized before anyone else.

Expect mayor Nagin and the Governor to eventually apologize for their blunders eventually as well. And I expect every politician that said the relief was great the first three days to also apologize. Maybe that will bring back all the Americans and property we lost, but didn't have to. Where WAS FEMA the first three days?

I don't know if you'll ever see Nagin or Blank-O apologize. At least as long as they can safely blame FEMA & the Bush Administration while hiding behind their Democratic Party affiliation.

On a side note - I'm glad to see Congressman William Jefferson (D) was able to get everything out that Friday night with the help of his National Guard escorts. Total resources wasted by the congressman during the height of the evacuations:

12 National Guard Soldiers

2 Five Ton Cargo Trucks

1 Black Hawk Helicopter & crew

1 Sea Hawk Coastguard Rescue Helicopter & crew

2 Para-Rescue Troopers

And his justification? "Well, while I was in my district, we happened to pass my house, so I asked if we could stop. While I was in there they went down the street looking for people to rescue". The National Guardmen's story? "We sat in our truck for an hour while he was inside his house. He had us pull up so close to the house our truck got stuck. He never asked about going to his house when he approached us about touring his district to see the damage. We have no comment as whether we wanted to be there."

All for a laptop, 3 suitcases, and a box the size of a small refridgerator. I like how he attempted to defend himself by saying he did what he had to do to comfort his family in their time of need. How great would it have been if EVERY displaced family that Friday would have got 2 Five Ton cargo trucks, 12 National Guardsmen, a Blackhawk escort for navigation, and then a Coast Guard rescue chopper just incase you get stuck in the mud.

The hurricane is to blame for the destruction of New Orleans, lower Mississippi, and lower Alabama. In my opinion, two Democrats and one Republican are to blame for the slow response that has resulted in the many deaths, however. They need to be held accountable. We elect our officials trusting they will have and make plans for events such as this. The Mayor, the Governor, and the President are to blame for the lack of leadership that resulted in far too many deaths. Their punishment should be decided by an independent bipartisan committee.

Well, it just reinforces the fact that incompetence has been the hallmark of the Bush administration. Bungled war, bungled economy [HUGE debt], bungled response to Katrina...now if this had been a horse show...
