Subdude
A developer that has focused on construction in Houston's suburbs recently opened its first inner-Loop project, with a second on the way, capitalizing on a consistent demand for houses in the city. Magnolia, Texas-based Gracepoint Homes opened Madeline, a 22-lot community featuring “tall and skinny” single-family homes, located in the Houston Heights area at Interstate 610 and Ella Boulevard. The dense development features three- and four-story tall homes situated on 1 acre. The vertical model provides buyers a less-expensive alternative to the typical single-family home. Prices begin at the $440,000. The community opened for sale last month, with four lots currently on hold for purchase. “Madeline is part of our strategy to purchase smaller, well-positioned properties to develop,” said Tom Cox Jr., president of Gracepoint Homes. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/blog/breaking-ground/2014/03/new-residential-development-set-for-the-heights.html http://media.bizj.us/view/img/2242081/madeline-frontrender071613*600xx2250-1500-1575-0.jpg

s3mh
There is a proposal to improve and widen W. 20th through Shady Acres. If that happened, W. 20th could become a retail corridor for Shady Acres if some of the auto lots and industrial buildings moved out. The Madeline project is just one of many in Shady Acres going up right now. Ryland, Sandcastle, Drake, and others have big townhome projects going in in Shady Acres. On to the Next One
I hope the proposal to widen W. 20th goes through. With all those town homes going up in that area, a 4 lane east/west street between Ella and Durham would be a benefit in my eyes.
