Do You Think Spiral Stairways Are Cool?

Okay, i guess first off its worth mentioning that all new houses with 2 stories need at least one regular staircase to comply with fire codes, so you dont see them often, but do you think spiral staircases are a good design element to a house?

on one hand , their unique and kind of fun.

but on the other hand, its a pain in the ass going up and down them.

just another note... ive never seen one in a house built post 1970's.

except for once..

ive seen them in theaters before, even newer ones like the one in killeen.

i lived in the woodlands for a while and when i lived there they had a "parade of houses" type thing and i saw one with a spiral staircase in the master bedroom leading up to a loft type thing that looked like it could be an office since it had a window and painted walls, but the wood decking and water heater and lack of other ways in made it an attic.

if i lived there i would use it as an office, though

A friend of mine bought a 1970-vintage house that had one. He ended up tearing it out and replacing it with a normal staircase.
