houblu
It will be really cool to get these e-mails in my car while I'm stuck in the 100 mile evacuation jam up. And just in time for (this year's) hurricane season, Thanx COH!
kylejack
I started getting weather alerts that look like texts a few days ago on my cell phone alerting me of severe weather conditions. I wonder if the activation of this system is why I started getting those?
RedScare
I got them, too. At first, I thought, "Hey, this is cool!" But, after the third one went off in the middle of the night, I got up, went to Settings, and turned that crap off. That's the problem with 'Alerts'. They send too many of them. I don't care the dad who took the baby in Lampassass, or the old man who wandered off in Grand Prairie. If they would limit it to real emergencies affecting only our area, I might turn it back on. TGM
No thanks. The double-volume U-Verse weather alert is plenty effective in that it awakens the dog, which then awakens the wife, which, well you get the point. And for what? It's as if everyone at the NWS graduated from the UH double-Doppler, cone of uncertainty, dirty-side, on-shore flow, hunker-down school of hyping the weather. TGM
Does this make us a police state? No, it's only the dog barking orders. I do however wish that I could turn it off. We did manage to survive all these years without it.
