It is a kind of cannibalism.---------------------------OK, fine, so Papillion and I are being slightly melodramatic. Maybe we read too much Ayn Rand, and not enough between the lines therein. But a defeat so devastating and complete as the one that we face doesn't come naturally. We are not so tortured that we lie down and take abuse easily. Pavolv's dogs we are not. This election is a bitter pill, and I anticipate that it will be an expensive one at that...ableit probably more from efforts to cure its futuer effects than for the pill itself.Tell me, Papillion, do I not speak for you as well? I'll be joining Niche and Papillion in her book club, which would feature the likes of Ayn Rand, Friedman, and the like. Either way, we will be going through some tough times in the near future; I will cling to my faith and the like to try and make the best of whatever happens. Our nation's affairs could be guided by rational and informed citizens, and that might even slow that pace at which we've been selling our children's futures for the last eight years. Don't worry about offending people as long as you're polite and respectful. There's nothing offensive about expressing your belief in God around here.It's funny, because just yesterday I met up with some of my old TV and newspaper friends. It was the first time we'd gotten together in a group since I left my old job almost a year ago. During part of the conversation we started kidding around about how now that I'm not part of "the media" I have more freedom of speech than I did before. So we started saying things that I could never have said in my old newsroom in a million years. Things like..."There are people who are only voting for Obama because he's black.""Jesse Jackson is an opportunist has-been who becomes less relevant as the black middle class thrives.""Even if you don't agree with his policies, George Bush was for the most part a decisive leader."and not having to whisper the word "Muslim" the way some people whisper the word "Cancer." My line from the day was, "You don't have to whisper -- she already knows she's a Muslim."Leaving TV made me poor in dollars, but rich in freedom.Am I off topic yet? Tax the rich2. Give it to the poor.3. The Rich (from small business owners to large publicly traded companies) lay off people and raise prices to maintain profit margins as they were before new tax plan.4. Laid off people get Obama's tax money from the rich.5. Companies shut down, or move out of country laying off more people.6. More laid off people get Obama's tax money from the rich - but there are less rich people than before which means fewer jobs, and less money cycled through the economy.Now repeat this over and over and eventually you will have no one left to prop up this economy. There will be no jobs, and no money spent. Inflation will be beyond what we will be able to afford as the government prints more money to "bail-out" the economy. The dollar will be worthless.I'm sorry folks, but how selfish are you that you want this for this country?Tax breaks for the wealthy = more jobs.
