JLWM8609
I found this website about Historic Atlanta over a year ago. http://www.atlantatimemachine.com/I was hoping a site similar to it existed for Houston, in terms of the amount historic photos and then and now comparison photos. I searched and couldn't find one. Is there one?

sevfiv
i can't recall any sites, but the Houston: Then and Now book is neat and is nothing but side-by-sides i have been swamped and only have three up so far, but there are many more in the queue http://comm.arch-ive.org/sunset http://hotels.arch-ive.org/montagu http://hotels.arch-ive.org/penn when i have more time, i'll try and paste more together - and hopefully IE will fix PNG transparency issues with older browsers Edited August 22, 2007 by sevfiv
sevfiv
after browsing - those atlanta pictures are great!i only use postcards, and unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a wide range of them for houston in the first place, and i'd say at least half the ones i own are of places that have already been demolished

You can spend hours looking at those old post cards.

Vertigo58
Do make use of the following site?http://www.houstonhistory.com/sitemap/history4b.htm That's great but I think he meant a website where you could post your own historical photos? I could be wrong. If so I'm there. Maybe members there won't bicker like some few on this forum. lol
lockmat
What's that place in the background in the far right? I've never been to ATL. Is it similar to Houston in respect to our many business centers like the Galleria, Energy Corridor etc? Man, I just googled images for atlanta skyline. Theirs is so weak compared to ours. Trae
That's Buckhead. A lot of new highrise condos going up there. It is similar to our Uptown, but a lot smaller. Some good photos here and here. Edited August 23, 2007 by Trae
