Ethanra
Houston has gotten bad press about air pollution through the national media. Some people say Houston and L.A. flip-flop back and forth as having the worst air quality. According to thisarticle Houston isn't even in the top 10. CDeb
Now that Dubya is on his way out, it's not as fashionable to rip Houston and Texas anymore.
MidtownCoog
No kidding. Remember Al Gore's campaign bashing Houston's environmental record while Lee P. Brown stood silent and towed the party line? One of the harshest articles was from no other than the LA Times. They had a sorry little story about how you can't see starts at night in Houston becuase of all the pollution.
VelvetJ
No kidding. Remember Al Gore's campaign bashing Houston's environmental record while Lee P. Brown stood silent and towed the party line?Yeah, I also remember wondering why two of Houston's most well known residents, George and Barbara Bush, were so silent about it. They were much more known than Lee Brown. How could they sit silently by and let the left wing media tell such lies about their fair city and it's pristine air quality? MidtownCoog
You are a bit out of touch with reality. I seriously doubt that you read any of those articles.Nobody said the air quality is good, but LA is the last city on Earth that should see its paper write a politically charged editorial about Houston's air quality. Why should George and Barbara play games with the LA Times? Let me guess... the Chron won't even run this AP story. What a sorry excuse for a major metropolitan newspaper. MidtownCoog
That, too.I can't find the LA Times editorial anymore. Damn left-wing Web editors. But I did find a CATO editorial which pointed out some of the lies put out about Houston's pollution.
RedScare
That list was for short term particle pollution. Houston is not even in the top 25 on that list. However, when ozone is measured, Houston came in 5th, Dallas 7th. Interestingly, Houston and Dallas were the only cities of the top 8 not in California on the ozone list.
