WestGrayGuy
I am not sure if this is a topic... but if we have an ugly streets topic, why should have a pretty streets topic. I will go first with my favorites:1.) By far, my favorite is Main Street from Mecom fountain to the Medical Center (Rice area) 2.) Dallas Street from Montrose into downtown (feels like you are driving into Emerald City)3.) Allen Parkway (Waugh to Taft) Nothing better on a chilly fall afternoon to zoom down this great drive with the windows down).
musicman
not sure if i agree with your assessment of the Dallas drive. i enjoy Kirby from shepherd to San felipe. Many of the river oaks streets (lazy lane, etc) are nice drives.portions of macgregor are nice as well.sunset.north and south blvd.actually i think my list would be long. WestGrayGuy
North and South Blvd in West U area too. Hell, I would love to live there.
desirous
Lexington Blvd in Sugar Land impressed me quite a bit. In the city, it would have to be Allen Parkway. My favorite drive, though, would be the Elysian Viaduct.
woolie
Concur with others. Main: 59 to Holcombe Allen Pkwy Sunset/North/South/Bissonet: Montrose to Kirby Westheimer: Bagby to Shephard.
HtownWxBoy
In no particular order... 1) Allen Parkway towards Downtown 2) Dallas Street - Montrose towards Downtown - Downtown towers just look so tall and amazing! 3) Louisiana Street - Midtown into Downtown 4) West Grey near the River Oaks Shopping Center ... love all of the palm trees! 5) Post Oak Blvd in the Galleria 6) I45 south towards Downtown - freeway isn't pretty, but the view of Downtown is! gonzo1976
All of those are great. I guess if we had to get more specific and name secondary streets, my suggestion would be Bayland Avenue.

JLWM8609
Driving up Memorial towards downtown from Shepherd provides a good view of the skyline, as does 288 north from 610 to I-45. Edited April 20, 2007 by JLWM8609
Vertigo58
All of those are great. I guess if we had to get more specific and name secondary streets, my suggestion would be Bayland Avenue. You would be surprised how many people don't know where Bayland Ave. is. I love it because of the fantastic homes that line all the way up and down. Its in the Heights folks! or more near the edge of 45 and North Main/Pecore area. I think most beautiful streets are around The Museum District area, like Sunset Blvd. I could walk around there for weeks and never get bored. Perfect mix of stately homes, greenery and huge old trees! Millions of squirrels too! Oh and Rice University areas are just as beautiful! The Great Hizzy!
I'd like to offer some that haven't been mentioned:1. TC Jester Blvd, particularly from W. 11th to about Pinemont. I like the winding road through the various subdivisions and with White Oak Bayou offering itself as a parallel.2. North and South Braeswood.3. Hillcroft between W. Bellfort and Braeswood.4. Memorial Drive5. North and South Drive6. I'm probably alone on this but I actually like MLK Blvd from OST to Griggs. Well kept medians and the road goes through some decent older black hoods.7. North and South Mac Gregor (minus the section of North Mac Gregor just past Scott to Tierwester).8. Woodway9. W. Alabama from Kirby to Montrose10. Montrose from the Museum District to W. Gray11. Heights Blvd.12. Bayland Avenue in the Heights13. Shepherd/Greenbriar from the Southwest Freeway to Rice Blvd.14. Rice Blvd.15. Lawndale from Country Club Estates to Forest Hill16. W. Bellfort from Willowbend to Hillcroft17. W. Gray from Waugh to Shepherd18. Tidwell from Hirsch to Hempstead (granted, it goes through blighted sections of the city but the road itself is actually well-kept and is in very good shape; one of the best roads from a quality standpoint in the city, plus the landscaping is actually better than average).19. W. 43rd through Oak Forest.20. Studewood in the Heights (post reconstruction).
DaTrain
*Memorial Drive between Downtown and Memorial Park*Smith Street through downtown. I feel dwarfed by the tallest buildings in the city lining here from BofA to the one formerly known as Enron.*Fannin Street from TMC to Hermann Park. Landscaping, and views of the park and METRORail*Richmond Avenue west of 610 at night.*Westheimer Road from the Galleria to BW8. Not exactly beautiful but it has "cruisin down the street" value to it.*MLK Blvd (second person to say so)*Bellfort Avenue thru SE Houston*Broadway from Gulf Freeway to Hobby. The landscaping makes it look deceiving only cause it goes thru ruff parts.*Kirby Drive in the Reliant Park vicinity*Scott Street from 610 to Bellfort. Wide grassy median*Main Street/90A from BW8 to 610*Elysian Street Viaduct into downtown. This is like a secret passageway into the downtown's eastside collection of buildings.*MacGregor Drive north thru Hermann Park.
TheNiche
A few that haven't been mentioned, seeing as how they've got the wrong Demographics:*East Loop Bridge*Bayridge Drive, Morgan's Point, TX*Park Drive, La Porte, TX*Skyline Drive, Texas City, TX*Texas City Dike, Texas City, TX*Todville Road, Seabrook, TX*Deussen Parkway/Lake Houston Parkway, Houston, TX*Battleground Road (SH 134), La Porte, TX*Burnett Street, Baytown, TX
