  1. The ones I know for sure are: 11th street cafe Barnaby's Shepherd Baby Barnaby's Fairview
  2. Too funny! http://swamplot.com/your-condo-hard-sell-is-no-longer-needed/2011-01-31/#more-25530
  3. 1. Baba Yega 2. Spanish Flowers 3. Niko Niko 4. Carter and Coolley 5. Barnaby's * * Barnaby's recently was demoted since they took off the Meatloaf and Lasagna from their menu. Anyone from Barnaby's listening?
  4. Since he said he saw it 15 times I'd guess "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".
  5. Swamplot has an article on this: http://swamplot.com/lard-almighty-tower-theatres-coming-attraction-is-grease-ii/2010-11-15/#more-23064 His twist seems to be "authenticity". He plans on using freshly renedered pork fat from the pork farms that, I think, are moving into the old McCains space. One of the comments says the pork fat is as healthy as olive oil. Don't know about that but I bet it's tasty.

  7. In that case I think the only remnents of the origional building was the wooden front facade propped up to , I assume, grandfather the old footprint. I think even the slab itself was new.
  8. One of them is afraid to debate.
  9. Yes, another ploy to keep rich people down. 6th ward, Midtown, Med Center, Downtown, Westchase, parts of Memorial, Museum district, Montrose etc. etc. etc. are poor areas? The Heights was a poor area until recently. When you have an area that is essentially flat, where high ground is in the 40-50 elevations, there are no safe areas where floods are concerned. If you were confident in your point that this is only about "income redistribution" why do you need to pull facts out of your behind to prove your point. Also, if I thought everything and every topic was about class warfare I might suggest that no area around Houston is flood resistent. Some are engineered that way because, dare I say, they are wealthy areas. How about all those rich people hogging all of those flood control projects.
  10. Trader Joe's in moving in! Ahh, one can dream...We'll probably end up with a mattress store, a pay-day loan center and a pawn shop.
  11. I'm just guessing to nearly 610. That is where the first "wet" business (Buffalo Fred's) shows up.
  12. Great. Shepherd/Durham could use some new/different businesses.
  13. I could see them staying as is but I'm not sure they would want to invest too much more in a store that can't sell beer and wine.
  14. Not bad. I miss Mac Chin's but it is a definate improvement over Shuck Daddy's.
  15. Nice screed. This guy probably will not be punished harshly enough. His surname and country of origin have nothing to do with that however.
  16. http://phoenix.gov/POLICE/crista1.html Shows violent crime and murder to be way down, rape up slightly. So if something is "widely known" it must be true? Anyway, some loser with an IQ of a speed bump committing an awful crime in the Heights does not mean the Mexican drug cartels are right behind.
  17. http://bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov/dataonline/Search/Crime/State/StatebyState.cfm "more recently Arizona"? Is that what you percieve or do you have actual data? If the scumbag's name were Casper Smith would your reaction have been the same?
  18. The article stated he was an illeagal alien?
  19. Welcome back. Any projects lined up?
  20. Hey! Take the Xmas tree down already. It's May.
  21. ad.doubleclick.net? Trend Micro does that here also. Trend does not like doubleclick.net.

  22. Good point. In my case I want them to protest on my behalf every year. I don't have the time or patience to deal with HCAD. Another thing to consider is price. O'Connor charges 50% of what they save you each year. There may be others that don't take as big a chunk for their services.
  23. They are worth a try. I noticed everyone's house on the block is still "pending". Pretty late in the year for that. I have a feeling that HCAD is going to try to maximize everyone's appraisal this year. Edit: I was wrong about being 12K less than all of the houses. The first house (nearest to Shepherd) has always been under-appraised, they are now appraised about 50K less than most on the block. Back when the houses were first appraised they were about 80K less than the others. Most likely a mistake on HCAD's part but I'm sure that was the argument O'Connor used to get our evaluation lowered.
