  1. True. I've always heard that the Heights association ran off Starbucks. I see their point that the chains may ruin the "charm" of the area but what is worse a Starbucks or empty storefronts?
  2. That is awful news. The store was one of a kind. Walking in that place was like walking into a JCPenney's with my granmother in the '60's. The Heights is a great place but we seem to have trouble with getting retail into the area.
  3. The disco Kroger had a makeover and is a little nicer now. HEB is the best. Just wish they had a nice new one in the Heights area.
  4. I saw it this weekend. I couldn't decide if I liked it or if it was "almost oppulent tacky". It certainly is a head-turner. Guess I'd have to see it a few more times. Can't wait to see the inside though.
  5. They looked yummy but that is hardly stop the presses kind of stuff. Besides the Italian Ice was a much bigger story, beyond awesome. I have to admit the Chronicle does seem to be lazy w/o any competition.
  6. Good question. If the Texans knew they wouldn't suck so bad and they'd be winning.
  7. Westwood and Sharpstown were similar in situation to Town and Country and Memorial. Too close together. One of them had to go. Unfortunately, Sharpstown hasn't been upgraded like Memorial has.
  8. Maybe Cedar Point could build something here. A roller coaster fanatics dream park.
  9. Ooops. My bad. I haven't lived in Cleveland for 21 years and my info is kind of old.
  10. I think BP's US headquarters is still in Cleveland. Remnents of it's Standard Oil days.
  11. Nothing there to judge by yet. The site plan looks pretty suburban to me. Hopefully the bike trail on the site will make it to completion.
  12. Thanks for the info. The area around the Target is really different. Artist loft/wharehouses etc. It was fun exploring an area of Houston I never saw before. Hope the re-development doesn't drive out the artists.
  13. I drove by the Target site a couple of weekends ago to check out the progress. On the way I saw some sort of wharehouse with all these "President" busts in the parking area. These things must have been 10-15 feet tall. Made of some sort of concrete stucco mix. There were probably about 20 of them. From Teddy Roosevelt to Clinton. Anybody know anything about this? No I'm not crazy! The voices said they saw them also.
  14. I'll be back. I'll give them a month or so to straighten their service out. Most places have service issues when they first open.
  15. Was there Saturday. The lady at the cash register couldn't have been ruder. She growls at me "take a seat". Like I'm supposed to automatically know what their serving system is. There was no "please be seated sign". At the Oinion Creek you order from the counter. I assumed they had the same system at the Dry Creek. Well after being seated and ignored for about 15 minutes I just left. Looks like a nice place and hopefully they will get their service straightened out in time. Hopefully they will get some cheerful help because the place looks like a great addition to the area.
