Is there some place I could go and give a standing ovation to a Landry's restaurant closing?
Okay, for those that don't know, like me, why the hate on Landry's?
-
Uh-oh. About the only good thing about this announcement will be the entertainment on this thread...
LUCKY STRIKE IS ON HOLD.
The Chron is reporting that they've finished about half the build out but have run out of funding and are looking for other investors. Denton and other retailers/restaurants/bars are downplaying the effect this will have, but this is prety major.
Lucky Strike was billed as an anchor. Losing an anchor at this stage of the game is terrible.
I am sure the restaurants are especially sad to see this as they could have counted on folks coming for dinner before heading over to bowl/drink/play games.
Wow, they only built half of it, and it was originally supposed to open 2 months ago.
Everyone must be hurting.
Had the Pavilions started a year to two later, I bet the whole complex would have "Shamrock'd".
At least the "namesake" reflects the old Pavilions in uptown situation . . . lots of vacancies.

i heard this weekend that some potential tenants are backing out. whole foods was not mentioned but other well known companies were..
unfortunately, due to the sensitivity of negotiations, i cannot disclose who they are.
Does this mean that more of the smaller buildings will be put on hold? It seems only the front building is built because it started before the economy really went into the crapper. I have yet to see anything else spring up.
Without the Hanover and Ritz, what else are they going to put on hold.

Nice house, love that style w/ atrium, all brick & steel, seems like it was made very well, and nice landscaping...but I do see (in the map) a railroad track behind the house, is that track still there? about the bayou, well, you know what can happen. Wonder what the history is, of flooding on that street. HAR says it was built in 1972, very reminiscent of several house styles in Glenbrook & Meadowcreek, built in the 1960's. What a funny name for a street, Pirtlewood.
And ridiculously cheap, $120K
Something fishy about this Scooby.
Not too sure about the area, very close to a "bayou" and decidedly strange: http://search.har.com/engine/dispSearch.cf...s=1&sTYPE=0...and very inexpensive.
From HCAD.
Tax Year: 2008 2007 2006 2005 2004
Appraised Value: $129,671 143,330 142,593 139,920 127,200

No Insite readers on here I guess either. But at the time, it did not mention which station.

Just noticed this from the Dynamo Stadium thread.
Sherry Williams is working for KHOU as a reporter.

Who remembers the old club in the 1960's called The Gypsy Baron located at 7025 South Main Street?

I came across something that stated the 99 Cent Store is reconsidering its pullout of Texas. I just can't remember where I saw it.
This has to be the funniest post of the day. Good one.
Maybe in the two posts directly above yours. -
So... you're intolerant of hicks ? Or least you're intolerant of business people shouting hickish slogans? Or are you intolerant of all rural auto dealerships? Or are you intolerant due to your perceived generalization of any former aggie, former football player, or former aggie and football player ?
I think it's very unacceptable that you should hate against hicks, rural car dealerships, dumb slogans, aggies, or professional football players and I demand that you be tolerant all of the above.
I am more intolerant of suburban car dealerships, but that's a whole other topic.

And back to delaying it... again.
http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/02/04/digital...vote/index.html
Turn off the analog, and the millions whom haven't made the switch, will make the switch. Either that or they wont watch TV and possibly do something constructive in their lives... either are fine by me.
Well. at least those stations that are willing can still go forth with the original date. Think of it as a window with a deadline, rather than a transition date. I doubt many stations will wait until June. Isn't the cost to operate analog signals versus digital a huge difference.

This is the first time I clicked on this thread. I am dissapointed there are no pictures. So yes thread is useless.
I think we can agree that the reason this thread has so many views is that people came to it to see if their were comparison pictures.
If this thread is going to continue to exist someone needs to get off their arse and post pictures.
Why would we want to scare people away from HAIF posting photos of Dominique?
Here's a picture, happy now?

I think Iron Tiger is talking about historic stores.. Like there would be a 70's map and an 80's map and a 90's map.
What about all the renovations and expansion, it just would not be as easy as one thinks.

~1000 jobs, and Hempstead's largest employer.
And with an estimated 2000 population count of 4691, that alone puts Hempstead at 21.3% unemployment alone. . . OUCH!

Ha. Unfortunately hiding the power lines in the trees leads to damage, especially if there's a hurricane. Look, we all saw the nightmare that restoring power was for Ike. I live one block outside of downtown and didn't have power for a week. We don't need to give the power crews any more headaches than necessary when some people went without power for 3+ weeks.
Or we could just do the "less ugly" and "more expensive" solution and bury the bastards under ground.
Uptown did it, and touted it as the reason they we up so soon after the hurricane.
Burying the lines will pay for itself in the long term with less breakage, make the street scape nicer, and allow for trees to be planted.

Ok, so maybe they'll be around for a while, save some closures...
http://houston.bizjournals.com/houston/sto...02/daily38.html
One-third of the City of Commerce, Calif.-based retailer’s Texas stores will close by March 28, the company’s fiscal year-end, but the board voted to continue operations in the remaining two-thirds of its Texas stores and continue to operate its distribution center in the state to support these stores.Fluff puff, so where are the 1/3 of the stores are they closing by March 28th?
Can we have a store list here Allison Wollam. . . addresses? How many of the Houston 20 will shut down.
Also, I like how she had to point out one-third and two-thirds in the same sentence, as if we could not deduced the obvious.

Nice updates on the site since that last time.
A little presentation for each corridor.
I think these are new.

Well after 5 videos, I don't know what they want, obviously I am just not going to give up until they cancelled the show or I can walk anymore.
But I will upload the video when I am done making it, likely next weekend.
I will try to upload the olders ones too, they are cheesy as heck.
I also sent a request to the moderators merge the threads, sorry about the double post.
I never managed to apply for the last one, but Season 15 application and eligibility are up.
Due by February 17th, 2009
So, again, it would be my 6th time, if I can manage to find a partner. I have a few in mind, but have not asked them yet.
Anyone else doing it this year?

I don't think this phrase is accurate anymore...
Here, have a cookie . . .
Randall Davis will resurrect the Titan when the economy is good and ready.
Randall Davis has yet to have a building not built. And the Turnberry not only has a super expensive office shack, but billboards all around town. They seem determined to make this building happen.
Damn how thing change in 6 months. . . so sad.

I'm not complaining about social & private, but social and family. And yeah, the dwi thread was a mistake, and it's no longer there. Sheesh, I'll remember not to be Human next time.
Not everyone's opinion or statementes can meet to your standards. Besides, I'm halfway kidding. Lighten up.

Houston Business Journal says 36 of the 111 Wamus in the Houston market will be closed. The result will be 220 Chase branches.
Any idea what going to happen to the half built WAMU on Sage and Richmond, i.e., next to the Mercer, i.e., the stained urinal?

This is a favorite. However, I wish I had a video of my friend's cat who learned to run test pages on his color inkjet. The cat then turned each page into to confetti. Much fun was had while the human was at work.
I saw this too a while back, with and without sound effects. Both funny.

My first system was a Sega Master System I got from my aunt for Christmas with Alex Kidd in Miracle World.
Unlike most kids, my parents, dad in particular, did not understand the upkeep with the Sega Master System and never bought another game for it. Kind of cruel if you ask me as a kid at the time, but you have to admit, if a parent does not get it, they won't spend $30-$50 on a game. But I made up for it as an adult with my PS2 and PS3 love.

The infamous Adventure dragon duck!
I read that one too K, very nicely done.
