  2. And long threads are annoying. I think it is reasonable to start a new thread, especially when the second phase of the development starts construction. ^_^

You must be new to the concept of forums.

This thread is only 6 pages long. We have threads in the 100's.

I don't see your logic. I am capable of reading 6 pages without being annoyed.

May I suggest a book in this series below to start with.

    seuss-myself.gif

La Centerra does not have a book store yet. Oh well, there is always Katy Mills.

You can find them at Books-A-Million, since Katy is not. . . you know. . . ready for a Borders or Barnes and Noble. :D

  3. It is quite entertaining. I can't stop looking at it.

Okay, someone had this before, I think on here a around the election, no?

    Trae maybe?

Is that from the beginning of Zoolander - idiot models just before they kill themselves by spraying gasoline on each other and playing with fire?

    Obama and more.

  4. I combined the threads, but if there is an interest in Perry's at La Centerra having its own thread again, I can undo it...

The thread topic that was merged was titled "La Centerra 2009" to this "La Centerra"

    ya, 2009!?!?!

We don't even have a "Houston Pavilions 2009", "West Ave. 2009". Does La Centerra need one . . . no.

    Thanks for merging.

Houston Rockets 2009 season, Houston Texans 2009 season, I get . . . this, not so much.

Heck, I reused the same American Idol thread each year.

I was just thinking that I would start a new thread for La Centerra, since the other was long and old.

    It's called "topic bump"

  5. Another sign that you might be a HAIFer. You have a few fellow HAIFers on your Facebook connections.

w00t! I got that one covered

Another sign that you are a HAIF-er is when you submit a request to merge a thread on a repeated topic that you know exists because you frequent the forums enough. . . but get scorned for doing so by the topic starter because the existing one is TOO long?

I don't know if that one was already mentioned though, because this thread is TOO long and I am too lazy to seach.

That was my cheap shot of the day. I'll behave now.

    Okay, Bye.

  6. I know it was already discussed. I figured the old thread had gotten a little long (and I personally dislike a long thread) and thought I'd start a new thread for La Centerra 2009. And although you don't give a rat's *** about what's going on in suburbia (although you do spend a considerable amount of time bashing it), some others do.

That's gotta be the strangest thing I have ever read.

Whether it's suburban, rural, or urban, I just care about well planned growth and dislike lazy sprawl developments that waste land. Discuss that here, if you can handle a long thread.

So yeah, the we have an "echo" of Perry's coming to La Centerra. . . slow news day I guess. -_-

  7. A newsletter from b4-u-eat.com announced that Perry's steakhouse will be opening late March 2009.

How is this news worthy of a new thread? We already have a perfectly good useless La Centerra thread.

This was already discussed last summer. :P

The website now lists phase 2 as opening in fall 2009. They have started work on Perry's Steakhouse though. That's listed with a Fall 2008 opening.
  8. They appear to be moving forward with the infrastructure for the project. There are workers there every day. I suppose they feel like they might have to do it since there is a lawsuit going on and it would look really bad for the City if construction for the new street and new utilities for the project also came to a hault.

    That's my guess.

As for the residential tower by Hanover, it is on hold indefinitely. I've heard their inside design/architecture team may have even been quitfired.

I can't imagine the hotel (Ritz) moving forward in this market. There is no money for projects like this in a relatively unproven high end condo market like Houston.

You've been banned from HAIF for spreading the bad news. . . :P

Damn, that is terrible, I don't like that "on hold" really means, "not happening".

Thanks for the update, regardless of the news. Just sad. At least West Ave. made it to it's full potential.

  9. 1. Las Vegas

Well, they must have tons of hotels rooms open now, which means they may drop room rates to compensate.

Cheaper rooms means that all the nice hotel rooms will start become run down as the riff raff take over.

Edit: I thought this referenced all things, but it seems to cover only rentals and housing, not hotels.

    NM.

  10. Being by there yesterday, I was not thrilled about the prices of the items that were there. I had thought about one of the big screens, but, eh. To me that the prices only moved a tad.

I went yesterday too, the 6-10/Post Oak one still has Xbox 360's (60GB version) for $225 (normally $299) and PSP systems for $125 (normally $169). Both cheaper than anything I have seen online.

  11. My office window looks out over the pool construction. The pool will be amazing. It's really huge - it spans a good portion of the width of the building. I'll try to get a picture of it this week and post it here

Sweet, I wonder if anyone will forgo wearing a top at the pool, to get that perfect tan and stimulate the neighboring offices. . .:P

  12. Except that Sugar Land was there before Houston grew out to it and does have an identity all its own. I don't know the history of Stafford, but Sugar Land is doing just fine as its own municipality.

Well, it's obvious, with its close proximity to Houston, that Minute Maid would have preferred to reference Houston as their headquarters, but essentially, Sugar Land paid Minute Maid to not use Houston.

I can wait for someone to accidentally order business cards that reference Houston.

Besides, Minute Maid Inc, Sugar Land Texas, although misleading, has a nice ring to it.

The pairing together implies that they add sugar to their juices. . . :P

From Wikipedia, who dares change it?

  13. The higher maintenance figure is correct, however, it includes more than the things that you have listed. It also includes insurance, capital repairs (e.g. roof, plumbing, elevators), a reserve fund, and perhaps a doorman. It's a lot of money, but owning a single family home carries a number of hidden monthly costs as well.

Yeah, I goofed up on those two biggies.

Our townhome insurance is $8000 for 10 units. . . ick.

Let's ask Suze Orman what she thinks would be the better deal... :P

I dare you to call her Saturday.

    She loves jackets!

  14. The City of Sugar Land also gave a $2.4 million direct incentive to Minute Maid to relocate from the Galleria area, where it had operated for more than 25 years. However, the company had to agree to two conditions: Put its name on the outside of the office building and refer to Sugar Land as its headquarters location in all corporate materials.

Silly Sugar Land, people will eventually realize that you are really it's own city, and not some generic suburb of Houston . . .

They really have an issue with this.

Reminds me of my Stafford/Texas Instruments/Houston. We referred to our office as either or, but Stafford wanted us to use only Stafford. No one knows where Stafford is outside of Houston.
