  1. Okay, I have not been gone that long have I? When was this?
  2. The Chateux is pretty big, how about the Rice end of the property? Is there anything there. Also, those Walden Internet Communities are nice, both the one near you and the one in Westchase.
  3. I have to mention he is approaching 12K. . . my only questions is, what took him so long. . .
  4. That awkward moment when you try to save the thread from chaos. I'd like your post 5 more times if I could.
  5. Well, I pulled it from my rear, but all the major stuff you talk about, the jackhammer, bulldozer etc, that's all foundation related, it won't take until next December to get the foundation down and columns placed. The rest of the build out should be quieter, and likely the Sunday work day will go away when it slows down. Surprised they are working on Sundays now, but that can only mean they are on an aggressive schedule to complete the project faster, which actually is good for you.
  6. Likely a thread to be moved to the Astoria, but RD does all this stuff to build interest and get a percent of presales done, so once he meets his quota, he can get approved for financing for construction. Presentation is key. When he promoted the Titan, he had to return all the deposits when it was cancelled, so it's a gamble, but if enough people commit, it will happen.
  7. Ride it out, especially if you don't plan on buying a home anytime soon. What's the point of moving when 6 months from now, all the major construction will be done...just my 2 cents. Not worth the move.
  8. Yup, the "new highrise" is the Astoria. So the success of that might be enough to bring the Titan back to the table.
  9. I would assume that the success of the Astoria would play a huge role in that, the "new highrise" he reference in my email. Twice now he avoids saying "no". McDonald's back then was even willing to sell the property. It would be a waste since you know that have the architectural plans ready to go.
  10. Sent a note last week based on this comment from Nancy's article on the cancellation of the Titan where he stated the following back in late 2008. I did get a message from Randall Davis regarding the Titan when I hit up the old page for an info update considering it was left open ended and we were surprised with a similar project of significance last week just across the street.
  11. The Cosmo was a lot less detailed and had cleaner line. I dunno, I am indifferent to the statues he uses.
  12. #1 - Looks the most futuristic without being cheesy, and think it will stand up well over the years without looking dated. #2 - Looks like a waste of money only because, I agree with KinkaidAlum and it looks phoned in. #3 - Looks like something out of a space themed FPS, and the red looks menacing rather than welcoming. Don't they know that blue is more soothing to the eyes? #4 - Looks like it uses lots of glass, which means that it will crack often and the city will take it's sweet time to replace the panels when they do #5 - Looks like a target for graffiti since it looks like a white canvas ready to get tagged. My vote is for number #1 Surprised there is no poll in this thread.
  13. I listed the most recent two that I can think of in Houston that were cancelled back to back. Everything else is pre-2008 was built.
  14. You were really in the mood just to sneak in a Golden Girls reference. Hey, the subject is it should be change from 23 stories to 24 stories. . .#justsaying
  15. Sounds like there is a demand, considering how close it was just 3 years ago that the Titan was cancelled. He always said that if things picked up, he would like to get that back on the schedule again and bring back the TItan. The condo on Skylark could still co-exist. It's like a second construction boom we had from the early 2000's. So potentially, we could have 5 cranes in the Uptown area at once.
  16. I like it too, it's like "The Titan" knocked up "The Cosmopolitan" before he croaked and this is her baby girl. Titan was 25 stories. Cosmo is 21 stories. so Astoria will be 24 stories.
  17. That land is smack in the middle of some existing proposals from BLVD place too. I guess I take the rendering too seriously.
  18. Great rendering, but will this actually happen. I am having a deja vu moment and it smell like The Titan.
  19. Ah, Randall Davis, can we trust him. . . The Titan...fail...Sonoma...fail. Now he expects us to believe him that Astoria will go forth. I vote no, only because Randall Davis name is attached to this. Commence with your posting of a Debbie Downer photo.
  20. It actually grew, from the thread history it went from 14 stories, to 19, and finally now to 20. Where did you get that from?
  21. And this week almost 4 years later, we finally hit 100 votes, with 2 more added to the Water Wall this week. 52 for River Oaks Theatre and 48 for Water Wall. I guess that means it's neutral really, with a slight advantage to the theatre. Close votes.
  22. I heard they replaced the trees, or at least started too at Memorial Park.
