The project involves general renovations throughout Floor 12 of the Alkek Hospital to renew finishes and infrastructure systems, to restore patient rooms that had been partially removed from service to full service, to renovate the nurse stations, and to enclose medicine preparation areas. Floor 11 will be impacted as hard ceilings on that floor will need to be removed and replaced. The renovations are needed to increase clinical capacity, improve the overall patient experience, and bring the sterile processing area into compliance with accreditation requirements. Of the $14.5 million allocated, $10,200,000 goes to building cost. This is also a CMAR delivery project. Design development is being approved this week and the Notice to Proceed to construction is scheduled for April 2020.
  2. Austin: UT System Regents All Set to Release $159 Million for Projects at Five Campuses https://www.virtualbx.com/construction-preview/austin-ut-system-regents-all-set-to-release-159-million-for-projects-at-five-campuses/ Austin (Travis County) — The University of Texas System Board of Regents have teed up six construction projects on five campuses and are expected to authorize expenditures totaling $159 million. $13.5 million to UT MD Anderson Cancer Care to demolish the Dental Branch Building. This project involves the demolition of a building that was formerly occupied by the UT Health Science Center Dental School. The building has seven levels including a basement level and a utility service tunnel that connects with the UT MD Anderson Main Building complex. The work is expected to include the abatement of asbestos containing materials, as well as any other hazardous materials that may be present. The project is expected to include deconstruction of the building, rather than implosion, as well as modification of an existing flood wall system, shoring, removal of basement walls, protection of buried underground utilities, and analysis of capacities for existing infrastructure to support future site development. Finally, a portion of the site is to be developed as surface parking, on an interim basis, to support valet services for the Main Building complex. Of the total appropriated, $11,312,500 is budgeted for demolition. This is a Design/Build delivery method. This week’s action includes addition to the CIP, approval of the design, and Notice to Proceed to construction. The demolition should be completed by July 2020.
  3. https://www.marketwatch.com/press-release/10-q-biofuels-power-corp-2015-06-12 We purchased this 79 acre site on March 20, 2009 for a price of $1,350,000. This acquisition included 79 acres of land (now 54 acres after the sale of 25 acres during 2009) at the intersection of South Main Street and Hiram Clarke Road, together with all infrastructure, equipment, buildings and other improvements. The H. O. Clarke property is adjacent to a 500 MW switchyard operated by CenterPoint Energy and has ready access to the Texas ERCOT grid. This decommissioned power plant was originally operated by Houston Lighting and Power with a total of 268 MW of gas fired steam generation until the 1980s. An additional 78 MW of gas fired turbines were added to the distribution system as peaking units and were last used in 2004. These peaking units have been removed from the site but the interconnection equipment remains. We plan to build a GTL pilot plant on this site to commercially converting stranded natural gas resources to synthetic crude oil. We do not have sufficient financial resources to restore operation to this power plant site and there can be no assurance that suitable financing will be available when needed. If we are not able to attract adequate financing, we may have to delay or abandon plans for all or part of the re-commissioning of this site. The key to this site is its central location inside the nation's fourth largest city and the opportunity to build a model alternative fuel demonstration site. We plan to form the Houston Clean Energy Park on this site to introduce a variety of GTL projects. Planned elements include different syngas reformer designs, GTL reactor technologies and gas processing units.
  4. I was told Post Oak Shopping Center has been sold. The Container Store to Maggiano's. A "city within a city" will be built. Can anyone confirm the sale of this shopping center?
  5. Today I went down Holmes Road to explore the area. There were so many concrete plants. I visited Argos, Cemex, and Allied Concrete! I enjoyed my day
  6. Demolition pictures from today. I was told CenterPoint is rebuilding. I'm not so sure about that though. The forest to the right belongs to Saint Nicholas School's 46 acres.
  7. We don't have a precise thread for this project. I see this thread mentions both Kirby & Holmes. Here is some updates regarding the Reconstruction of Holmes Road from Main Street to Kirby Drive. Went to the job staging area and talked to some builders.. Located at 1807 Holmes Road
  8. This has been in the works for a while. Finally took a closer look today. Located across the street from UT's Buffalo Speedway campus. I'm disappointed they're using (future) prime real estate for an RV park. Maybe this will help people who travel across the country to visit our med center.
  9. CenterPoint Energy's Hiram Clarke Generating Station at 12045 South Main Street. Weeks ago I noticed a demolition permit at this address. Looks like a part of the site will be turned into Powerfuels' Houston Clean Energy Park. Center Point Energy will still occupy some of the parcel?
  10. Looks like JTB Demolition is done at the site. Wonder what's next? They will have to relocate those power lines.
  11. Getting proper infrastructure ready for the large 7200 Development. Or, one would hope.
