  1. Finally found the original TIRR building! The TIRR hospital system was founded in 1957 by Lamar Fleming, Jr., William Spencer, and Leon Jaworski. The hospital assumed the functions of the Southwestern Poliomyelitis Respiratory Center at the Jefferson Davis Hospital. William A. Spencer, MD was the Medical Director of the SPRC. The original address was 1801 Buffalo Drive, but since has changed to 1801 Allen Parkway. Here's a photo of the JDH annex building built some 30-years after the original hospital was built. Outside the hospital, patients in an Iron Lung type of device. The interior of the hospital showing all the mechanical medical devices used.
  2. I never knew the Jefferson Davis Hospital also had a nurses building! This is totally cool. It seems that most of the hospital systems in Houston had a nurses building.. As well as a College of Nursing. The nurses building was built in 1924 and was located at 1801 Buffalo Drive, now 1801 Allen Parkway. Alfred C. Finn and Joseph Finger designed the main hospital. I would assume they designed this building as well. Both of the buildings feature the same square on the front facade.
  3. A 1920s photograph of the "new" Jefferson Davis Hospital designed by Alfred C. Finn and Joseph Finger. The "star architects" of Houston. A floor plan of the building:
  4. Weird occurrence happened this week. Someone was passing by and told me the Texas Medical Center was planning a new garage. That day I messaged them asking for more details. No response. The next day I (kindly) asked again and the person was silent. I'm assuming the person let the cat out of the bag and wasn't supposed to say anything? Or maybe they had their information wrong and wanted to retract their statement? If the person is accurate I'm assuming the garage is a direct replacement for TMC Garage 8.
  5. A Class-B hotel in Uptown is listed for sale. It's not very tall so I wouldn't think this would be a hotel to multifamily conversion. Most likely just a rebranding. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/6221-Richmond-Ave-Houston-TX/30028758/
  6. The Great Value Houston/Galleria located at 6060 Hooton Street is listed on Loopnet for sale. I can see a hotel to multifamily conversion here. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/6060-Hooton-St-Houston-TX/30949451/

  10. thatguysly- You were absolutely correct. All construction equipment has now been removed from the site and the parcel is now dirt. Glad to see construction is forthcoming and still on track!
  11. The Austin Commercial site now has a tan screen fence wrap. The Vaughn construction site is a wide hole! It is a shallow hole though. The skyline view of the tower crane over at the UT Research Park complex. Looks like it's the SCRB5 tower crane.
  12. This week's construction update. Parking garage slant progress:
  13. Similar photo this weekend. I called it Skyscrapers and Excavators.
  14. wow! New TMC Innovation Factory street signage a long Holcombe Boulevard at Almeda Road. Shaped just like the new TMC Helix Park signage. 2 curved plates together. I do wonder the material for the front sign. Is that metal with a laser engraving? Looks industrial for sure! The rear sign that is curved is red. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. The old, or current, signage down the block. Texas Medical Center John P. McGovern Campus 2450 Holcombe Blvd
  15. The roads for the residential community has been laid. I wonder the forthcoming street names?
  16. Cool building design. The design is something between modern and brutal. Photo I took this weekend:
  17. Stopped by this weekend to take a few pictures. Texas Hearing Institute Audio Speech Therapy Melinda Webb School Texas Children's Audiology and Otolaryngology 3100 Shenandoah
  18. This weekend, while driving to MD Anderson's East Campus, I passed the CenterPoint Energy Plaza Substation located at 7717 Almeda Road. Cool stuff here!! These (?) are oddly shaped. Any ideas what these are called, and what they are for?
  19. While returning from lunch I stopped at the Memorial Hermann Medical Group located at 3203 East Broadway Street in Pearland. I wonder why the business name Memorial Hermann Medical Group? I'd assume there is a joint venture, that includes MH. Photos I took today:
  20. This weekend I noticed a UTMB Health Woman's Services & Pediatrics satellite clinic in the Broadway Square Shopping Center located at 2720-2850 East Broadway Street in Pearland.
