    I grew up in this area from '78-'89. We always knew it as 1st ward. A friend of the family lived where the Target's going up, they gave her a pretty good deal for her house. Our family was renting a house right across Crocket Elementary what is now the schools parking lot. I told my mom about all the development going on she said " I told your dad he should of bought something in that area while it was still cheap" So true. I still remember everything about our old house, from the outside plumbing to the holes in the floor, to the stains in the ceiling from where water leaked in. As crappy as the house was we had a great time as a family there, it wasn't until much later that I realized we were poor. I wouldn't trade that entire time for anything though

    Why do you ask that? We were just talking about how this place needs more seafood restaurants(besides just fish and chips aka chippies) Mmmm what I wouldn't do for some good seafood Anyways......The last picture looks plain, just a box with trees up front. The other two are alright. At this point I don't care to much about renderings the actual building usaully comes out different. I would like this to get off the ground soon though.

    I think it was just a phrase/rep that was picked up and stuck. I always saw it as an ordinary mall. Yeah some of the surrounding area can be shady but the mall and bussiness area isn't as bad as a lot of people think it is

    Lunch time and 9-5 during the week it doesn't look too different than downtown, people in suits walking around. In the evening you would find more teenagers and families mostly appearing to range from lower to mid income. It's not the worse mall around and any improvement is welcomed.

    Just saw 26 news at the opening day street festival.....soo I'm getting ready to go. That's probably as close as I'm going to get to opening game experience. i'll try to take pictures

    Yeah.....A new jail should be built further in and the current jail should be converted into a UHD building, a hotel, apartment housing

    Yeah I saw that too I heard that they are considering NOT knocking over the current Co-Cathedral. That it may be used as a hall for the church. I guess there was a lot of opposition to getting rid of it.

    Just a little research on the subject at hand scrolling through the thread makes a difference. Oh well, We have strayed off subject so everyone should drop it.......if anyone else has anything else about it they should just IM, drop it, or go to the thread about reading threads before posting( it exists)

    You beat me to it. I don't think 19514 was trying to be rude, he/she might of just got annoyed that people go on about something when it's already been discussed. And that person could of avoided the question(or rant/ comment) if they would of just skimmed through the thread.

    Channel 13 news just had a story on Downtown parking. They mentioned that the surface lot in front will be replaced by that plaza soon. Didn't give any dates though. They still mentioned underground parking under the GRB park. And that building (forget the name) that will be replacing office space for parking.

    Well, some one is bound to say it I'm surprise DJ V Lawrence hasn't said it yet ....... welcome to PAGE 23 EVERYONE!!!!! I'm thinking you might be mistaken. There are only three surface lots on the site that will soon be HP. Might of mistaken the building and lot east of the three lots

    So true, people still have a misconception about downtown. Other people as do I do our part to get the word out about how downtown really is. I wish the city or one of these downtown organizations would do more to get the word out, not just to other cities but to the rest of Houston and it's suburbs.
