Any new updates, people?
Here's my contribution....
I originally posted this on the ES thread, but it featured work on the skywalk. Just look at the upper right corner!

Ahhhh, gorgeous day in Houston!
FYI, barely found out last week, but you can see the webcam at different times, by clicking on the time, which dropdowns to earlier times. And by clicking on the calendar viewing different days, as well as times....
I just found out, so if you already know, then yeah...

VERY COOL....
Redesign features will include a dog run and a historic walking area.
In addition, there will be a water feature dedicated to Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas, a local passenger on United Flight 93, which crashed after being taken over by hijackers during the 9/11 attacks, as well as seasonal flowers, trees and a memorial to all victims of 9/11.
Art will remain a major component in the redesign, according to a statement from Downtown District officials. The existing Market Square Park is a collaboration of artists coordinated by DiverseWorks.
The same artists — Richard Turner, Paul Hester, James Surls, Malou Flato and newcomer Ketria Scott — will incorporate some new pieces as well as update older works. Artwork in the park will be managed by the Houston Arts Alliance.
The Downtown District is negotiating with Niko Niko’s Greek & American Café to operate a small restaurant in the park with outdoor seating, a trellis providing shade and a dual plaza/performance area on the Travis Street side.
Construction is expected to begin by the end of the year and be completed in mid-2010.

These city vs city arguments are pretty dumb. Makes everyone look childish.
Right? Looks like something right out of City Data's City vs City Forum. Anyways, people have been dumb/childish on both parts.
(some)HAIF'ers acting childish for actually arguing with these Dallasites. But (some)Dallasites for bashing Houston on a site dedicated for/to Houston! I mean seriously...
But its been entertaining...

Nice photo update, it is what it is, a "garden" or at least garden-sized. It basically looks like a lawn.
Im sure theres stuff to do there, sit on a bench, eat at the cafe, etc. But it looks little.
But, its a start. It would be cool, if every parking lot would turn into one of these, though!(of course, i would prefer skyscrapers and buildings)

This tower makes quite an impression on the gulf freeway, appears bigger than it really is.

Wow! I've been there lots of times and never seen this. When did they start doing balloon rides? I'd love to do some photography up there. I think I'm going to have to check it out. It is a bit expensive though...
Exactly! Ive never even heard about it until last week.
-
Has anybody heard/tried that Administaff Balloon, that lifts you up into the air? (or did anybody do it last year?)
The prices are too high for the peak hours(which is when most people will go)-$20 for adults,$15 for children
During regular hours, both prices go down by 5 dollars...
I didn't even hear about this last year. DT should be fun, with the ICE at DG, the Holiday Trolley, and this Ballon for extra holiday amenities.
I found this picture( from last year, i presume) on the site. Looks cool!
Here's the site, in case anybody is interested.

i dont like how we are grouped up with the Southwest, but whatever...
Haven't we've been #2 for a while?

I found this photo from Reverberation photo thread, http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=176022
I liked it, with the historical district alongside it, should be a nice contrast when completed.

On a side note, Houston has the 3rd Greenest skyline in America according to Forbes, which from what i read, was based on number of energy star buildings. Houston had 145.

Seems like alot of buildings that have been complete for decades are getting LEED ceritfications now.
Yeah, Bank of America Center earns GOLD LEED

Thanks for the great update, great example of a change in seasons...
-
Thanks for the update, it looks like they are finally building taller floors, or is this a special floor?
-
Looks like the website has the same old renderings....
-
Well i went to the webcam, but it was an archive from MAY!!, anybody have any recent images? But from the looks of it, an uninspiring exterior
-
Thanks for the shot. TMC definitely is going towards some interesting looking buildings, I love the curves on this one.
I think its just me, but imo, TMC is getting some repetitive designs....I mean how many recent building have some brown/blue mix in them? There are many examples of this style, especially the new tall one(forgot the name), and Texas Children's Hospital, and a bunch of other ones, as well. We haven't gotten any real glass buildings in TMC like St. Lukes, etc.
Sorry, that i didnt clearly express my opinion, but ive seen all these designs before, just one is a little taller, ones a little shorter, one has more glass, one curves, one has a spire with it, but it all boils down to that glass and stone mix thats become a little too fond.
But, thats my only complaint, at least TMC is still building.

You're forgetting Hess Tower on the bottom left lot.
Dont forget the garage behind Hess Tower!

i always pass this masterpiece on my way to New Caney

read carefully. it says nothing about parker.
well im basing it on that commercial that she said "we wont fund any museums or stadiums we cant afford."
I did read it carefully, and read the part where the chron says they asked Parker to clarify her position.
-
We hope to kill many parking lots in this area in the near future.
Hopefully the new convention center hotel pulls through.
-
At first, i though this was the historic Gulf Building.
JP Morgan Chase has way too many naming rights on buildings in DT.

I know voting for a candidate based on 1 issue is wrong, but it looks like Locke is pro-stadium development, and Parker isnt...
It might seem like years ago, but it's actually been only about six weeks since City Controller
Annise Parker released her first TV ad, which suggested her opponents were making fiscally reckless promises: "I won't raise taxes or cut police to fund more stadiums or museums we can't afford," Parker said in the ad.Now the stadium, if not the proposed Hispanic museum, is surfacing again as Parker's runoff opponent, former City Attorney
Gene Locke, spreads the message that voters who want a new stadium for Houston's professional soccer team should support him.http://blogs.chron.c..._stadium_1.html
FYI, the Dynamo are heading to the Western Conference Finals(for the 3rd time in 4 seasons) against the LA Galaxy.
