I wouldn't hold out much hope for the Ninfa's. Every one I've been to has been sub-par. I haven't been to the one on Navigation, though.
Is Los Tios going into the space at the end where Ciao Bello was?
YES! Exactly! Apparently the Adair Family owns the chain now and when the space close to Adair Kitchen opened up they jumped at the chance to put Los Tios there!

WOW! The Rustic!?!? I wonder if there is anyway to fit in their famous indoor/outdoor space? I am trying to remember if adjacent to the right or behind it has any space?
If it is going to be the same format as Dallas and Downtown Houston then this is huge news...would love to walk to The Rustic for music (and food etc)!

I go to the Escalante's Highland Village OFTEN (probably tooooo often haha)...and actually like Blanco's Taco + Tequila quite a bit (although the queso is not your standard queso as it's more creamy like a cheese soup almost)...but cannot wait for the new Ninfa's to open at BLVD Place! (and Los Tios is opening a block away in the Randall's Plaza on San Felipe...
I will finally have quite a few mexican options walking distance to my condo and work!!!!! yahOOooOoOoo

I actually don't mind it tooooo much to be honest but i think the big chandeliers in the first photo/lobby look dated and out of place in that decor when the rest seems to be more art deco to modern...

He got me at this:
“This is the most you can possibly do to a building without completely tearing it down,” Peterson tells CultureMap as he leads a tour of the building. Once again, he tasked local design firm Collaborative Projects (UB Preserv, Georgia James) with capturing the right Blade Runner/Aliens vibe that defines The Rice Box’s signature look.
CANT WAIT!

Thought this article was pretty cool! I love our city!
https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/what-to-do-houston-texas/index.html
I have actually ridden my bike past Sunrise a million and 1/2 times (riding from my galleria condo to discovery green and back just for fun) and never stopped...I will now! haha!

Lisa Vanderpump from Bravo tv/Restaurant Bar fame stayed at Post Oak this past weekend:
While in town, Vanderpump and her entourage stayed at Tilman Fertitta’s Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston and dined at Mastro’s Steakhouse the night before the H-E-B appearance. She raved about the hotel and its pet-friendly policy — yes, Vanderpump had a pooch in tow — especially the in-room doggie dining menu.
“It’s the most gorgeous place on Earth,” Vanderpump said of the Post Oak. “It really was the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at. They looked after me like I was a queen.”

Yeah...more here...in another article it mentions though that the Mayor has said that the park HE dreams of will be in the heart of the city not in a suburb...
found the mayor saying this:
Mayor Turner also expressed a desire to have a "major amusement center" in the city during in informal lunch with the media in 2016, earlier reports say. He said he wanted the park located in the city of Houston — not a suburb.

What is going on with this piece of land? Empty lot...abandoned building...next to Tillman's empire...at the entrance to what is "supposed" to be "the grandest blvd in the country"...
I just don't understand why it isn't being developed yet? Anyone have any information?

I cant find the appropriate thread that I once posted in so sorry for the semi-hijack but what in the heck is going on with this piece of land?! as the entrance to supposed "newest and grandest blvd in the nation", it sure is an eye sore! I thought for sure that at least Tillman wold have picked this up by now since its just adjacent to his empire!

Yeah I am confused by all that as well... It looks to be a one lane situation at one point...I cant remember exactly where...maybe it was at Guilford Ct that i noticed that? or the next block...
but yep, we shall see how many crazy people get hit once it's done!

I talked with someone who works for the McNair corporation and he said it is still definitely a go on the project. However he said they will have to modify the design slightly because of the land they had to sell to the city for the widening of Post Oak. Also when the hell is Post Oak going to be finished? I looks like its been 90% done for months now.
Especially since the work was supposed to be done by Nov 2018, then December 2018 then they said Early 2019 whatever that means...
I am ready for it to be done as well since I am on it every single day at one point!

I used to basically live at River Oaks Theater (every Rocky Horror weekend, all the sneak preview screenings including Blair Witch etc...) But man those seats were just the most uncomfortable things ever...did they at least change out the smelly and uncomfortable seats? that is why i stopped going there! (although yes its sometimes the only place you can catch good/original independent or limited release cinema)

The iPic is super nice and the thing i like about it the most is the respectful audience and the pod chairs (as long as you are 2 people) and service really are great. I actually even like the menu...it is a great atmosphere in general in my opinion BUT i do realize that not everyone can afford 18.00 on weekdays and 26.00 on weekend per person tickets (VIP pod seats...skip the regular seats as its just the first few rows and yes they are normal seats but man are the close to the screen!). I know even I will go see select movies there (ie. scary movies where I dont have to listen to lunatics talking to and screaming at the screen) even though I can walk to the iPic theater!
I DO however frequent Edwards Greenway and I like it for the most part as well. I park on the street behind the theater for free...while that street can fill up, I am always lucky to at least find one spot so do that when able.
You ARE right though...at Edwards it is almost always a light crowd even at the most popular movies at the most popular times...I have moviepass (which yep i still have and use and love haha) so i go almost once a week and it definitely has slowed down in the past 6 months to year. Maybe all the quality cable shows and movies as well as the paying services etc? These days you can almost bet that any given movie is released a couple to few months sometimes past their theater release date so maybe more people are waiting for home viewing. I personally love to watch a movie on the big screen!
4 minutes ago, I'm Not a Robot said:I think most are hoping that Alamo finally comes into the loop, whether it is the long rumored Regent Square near Allen Parkway or in the spot dedicated to a movie theater in the East River plans. AMC 8 is my theater of choice due to location and ability to reserve seats but it's such a bad experience compared to Sundance, which was the best theater in the area including suburbs.
i LOVED Sundance and iPic to me rivals that if not does it a bit better...although Sundance pricing was a bit better, iPic offers more so come try that maybe on a weekday when its cheaper...
example: Miss Balla at 7pm tonight is 18.00 in vip seats and on friday at 7pm it is 26.00 in vip seats. (per person)

Will Ninfa’s BLVD Place offer mole dishes?
I love me some Ninfa's! and...the Ciao Bella 1 1/2 blocks away (in the Randall's Plaza) from this new Ninfa's is being replaced by Los Tios! I will be surrounded by Mexican Food now! Yay me! (*Blanco's Tequila + Tacos in the Galleria Mall is awesome btw)

So i didn't want to start a new topic for this- but the Target on San Felipe has begun remodeling the interior of the store to fit its new store design. For example: https://people.com/home/target-new-redesigned-stores-are-open-photos/
I presume an exterior face lift is also in the works.
Sorry to poo poo on everyone's dream of Target being redeveloped into something else anytime soon.
I couldn't be happier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love my Uptown Target!

I guess i have lots of extra money to blow but yeah still dont see it haha! I do go to HEB periodically and nope...still dont see a difference if any on what i buy (remember i go out to eat 5 to 7 nights a week)...so hey if you are wanting me to save money I am all for it if necessary...get HEB to take over the Randall's on San Felipe and Sage...I am all for it

While I still haven't seen that to be true from MY experience and with what I buy...I will say that I am guilty of also never being desperate to find the cheapest price on anything I purchase no matter what it is whether it be food, dining out, clothing , home accessories/furnishings etc....so good for anyone that is! I like the convenience of my Randall's...but hey once again i wont complain if it is one day replaced with another grocery store!

This morning on Channel 2 news they were talking about Super Bowl BBQ's and how it's time to go to your favorite supermarket to pick up meat....and it listed all the grocers in Houston and Randall's had the best price for various cuts of meat! Thought of this thread of course!

White Oak Music Hall At 2915 N. Main St.
in Going Up!
Posted · Edited by gene
I cannot believe how much it has changed already. I was at one of the opening nights of White Oak and I was like...where in the hell am i?! And i was approached by quite a few sketchy characters in this truly run down part of town....and just knew my jeep was going to be broken into upon my return. (it wasn't)...
and look at this area now.
I know there was alot of resistance to all of this from residents wanting to keep their neighborhood quiet and peaceful but wow I am betting this brings in a whole new life into the neighborhood where hopefully all kinds of people can co-exist and be appreciative of all the awesome things it now offers.
