  1. Are there any sites out there like Monster, Hotjobs, etc that allow you to search for a job in a SPECIFIC area of a certain city rather than just the whole town.

so if i were job hunting, i might only want to consider jobs that were located on say the southeast side of town.

is there any place where i can do that without looking at every listing and trying to figure out where specifically the company is located?

something like a har.com but for jobs :)

  2. Going a bit off the slug topic here, but a co-worker of mine told me that a few weeks ago, somebody on the bus farted and he tried to hold his breath as long as he could. He couldn't tell who it was behind him, so he started to look around with a sniff. What he didn't realize was that the other passengers thought he had done it by looking around. Also, he mentioned sometimes he would sit near people who took up more seat space than usual or placed handbags, backup, etc. on their laps. It was annoying according to him.

  3. It is beyond stupid, to me, that your credit score gets dinged 4 or 5 points at a whack, every time your report is pulled. The old thought was, hey, if this person is getting their credit pulled a lot, they might go out and take out a bunch of loans, and borrow a lot of money, and pose risk to lenders. OK... but what about the person who is shopping for a good home or car loan? In order to get a quote from different companies, each one has to pull my credit, and in doing so, my credit score keeps going down, down, down, which affects how much I have to pay in interest. Criminal in my mind. Regardless of how many times your report is queried, your score should not go down. Once you act on one of those queries (e.g. take out a loan) - then readjust the score as necessary... Otherwise, people can't shop for good loans without damaging their credit. Never understood why simply looking/pulling a report was/is a credible credit risk factor.

I thought your credit gets dinged only when u your credit gets pulled by lenders and not when you yourself requests a credit report. Also, i thought it applied only to getting FICO score reports.

  4. I believe that you should pay them based on how hard they have worked. I think what works best is to tell them that you'll pay $65 per guy plus lunch, but if they work hard you'll pay them more. And I always do if I see them working hard - sometimes $100 per guy.

The "pay by the job" method can backfire. If you take them all the way to the job and they decide it's not worth the money, and you can't come to an agreement, then you're supposed to take them all the way back? Big waste of time. However, I do know a plumber that makes them walk back if they decide they don't want to work. :D

$5 or $6 bucks/hr is good enough plus lunch and water. If it is a hot day, then 7 or 8 bucks/hr plus lunch/water. They need to get the job done though. If the job is not completed, then all bets are off. There are exceptions.

Alot of these guys are not making any money at all, so alot of them are happy to even be working for that day. You're in control, but pay fairly. I will say that you do take a risk in hiring guys that might not have skills in doing the particular job that you asked.

  5. I'm not sure on the mandates that are in use for the park, but the road has been there since before the inception of the park itself (there used to be a Military base there).

Quite frankly, I'd like to see some easier way for people staying/living in downtown (and galleria) to be able to more easily access the park for their jogging.

I always recommend to out of town visitors to utilize that park (along with Allen Parkway, Rice, and Hermann) for their morning jog before work or in the evenings. Quite a number of them don't have cars and using Memorial park isn't very easy for them to use, but they generally enjoy the experience (and eye candy).

I don't know about you, but the times that i've driven through there, i didn't see any eye candy. If anything, i saw alot of older women w/o makeup....not a pretty sight.

  6. Ok. If someone disputes some transaction, how long would that transaction stay on the credit report while it is disputed? How long will it take the merchant to reply to the dispute once the consumer disputes it? Will it change the FICO score considerably?

  7. annualcreditreport.com

you do have to put in info though but it is the only authorized site.

    Musicman,

I found it earlier. Did it over the phone. Thanks . BTW, getting my credit report also will have my FICO scores right?

  8. didn't a law pass that allows you to get one free report a yr?

I thought so also. I heard about it over a year ago about getting a free report, but where to go?

Maybe i should just apply for a loan to see what interest rate i can get for an auto at my local bank and my credit will be pulled automatically.

  9. Haven't pulled my credit report in several years. What are the major credit report agencies? Is it still Transunion, Equifax, and Experian. I was thinking about getting my credit report online, but hesitant to put in sensitive info online to get it. I know that if i was denied credit, i can get a free copy, but that takes too long. I don't mind paying for credit report and FICO score if it doesn't cost too much. Any info or suggestions? Thanks.

  10. Here's a question that should be posed for any guy, no matter what race. Why are they interested in Asian women vs. Asian American women or vice versa?

Where can I sign up for a sugga mamma? I will stay home and take care of the kids and the household!

This brings up an interesting question. Do women really mind that their hubby/bf is earning less? I see alot of news or tv stories where women don't mind making more than men with the husbands having an issue with this. However, the reality is that most women do look down on men who earn less. Hey, i don't have a problem with women earning more than myself. Hook me up with one!!...lol

  11. I think Houston is attractive to Asians because of word of mouth. What else could it be? Houston doesn't really advertise itself does it? I also think that Houston really is a land of opportunity. You can see it with all the successful businesses here regardless of race.

Wanna know a little dirty secret? Houston is a hotbed of illegal Asians because of the 'city of opportunity'. Hispanics get all the negative publicity about illegals, but there is a growing illegal Asian population in Houston. It is worse in California. It has been going on for several years when i first heard about it. It is pretty discreet.

  12. Does this mean you don't approve of women of color who marry white men? In California, where I live, many Asian women, particularly Japanese Americans marry white men. According the information from the US Census Bureau, in 2006, 50 percent of U.S.-raised, married Asian women were married to Asian men, while 41 percent of U.S.-raised, married Asian women had white husbands. 60 percent of U.S.-raised married Asian men were married to Asian women, while 30 percent of U.S.-raised, married Asian men had white wives (2006 U.S. Census Bureau).

Consult the following for more detailed information

    http://www.asian-nation.org/interracial.shtml

From what i've seen, most Asian American women(whether Chinese, Japanese, etc.)that marry Caucasian men really don't speak any Chinese, Japanese, etc. or know much at all about their heritage. So essentially, it isn't any different if the Caucasian men had married a Caucasian woman.

As far as the Asian women that marry Caucasian men, i see many of those as foreign students, foreign employees, visiting relatives here with visas, etc. who eventually got married or some who need some form of legal papers to stay in this country and eventually sponsor their own parents, siblings, etc. Also, these women see Caucasian men as a sign of wealth, stability, etc from what they've been informed of while back in Asia. This is through other friends or even the loca Asian media. Many of the Caucasian men that have interest in these women see them as good housewives(not caregivers my bad) who will treat them well and have dinner ready when they come home from work.

Obviously, this isn't always the case, but i've met quite a few people and talked to friends who have relatives that experienced this. Just my 2 cents.

  13. They way the Patriot's are playing it's hard seeing anyone beating them...but at some point they have to lose, right? I hope the Giants can pull it off. I know he's been playing great lately but Eli passing still makes me nervous.
    s

I agree. Eli hasn't thrown an interception in the last 3 playoff games right? So is he due for some in the Super Bowl, especially with all the pressure. Interesting to see what happens. If it was Peyton at the helm for the Giants next week, i would confidently pick the Giants for the upset.. :P

  14. Kinda hard to predict this game. Here is how i see it:

If the Giants can put heat on Brady all game, then i think they will win. I don't think the Giant's defense against the run will let them down. Their secondary is the concern, but again, if Brady gets too much pressure from Omenyuri and Strahan, it will change everything. Next will be the Giants running game. If they can run just decently against the Pats, it will give them a chance as they control the clock. I don't think Eli will have a problem completing short passes, but he will have problems throwing long. The last thing will be how Eli responds to the pressure of his first Super Bowl..

If Giants do all the things that i mention, they will win it 31-27. If not, they will lose 38-24.

  15. Maybe that was because the ownership of Spy was busted in an international drug ring bust, and the club shut down. Civil court judgments against federal prisoners are generally considered worthless.

Now that i think about it, yeah it was about the same time the club was busted for a front of laundering X and other drugs.
