  1. These kinds of stories tend to overhyped, but then, that's just what developers are going for.

Like that guy said in the vid, we just want people in Houston to know that it exists. It costs a fortune to have that installed on any home right now.

  2. I seem to never fully get rid of fleas. My dog constantly gets them even when I put Advantage (flea control) on him. I also sometimes get them when I sit outside in my backyard.

And it's not even that hot!!

Any remedies? What can I do to control them?

    Get rid of the dog!!

  3. It is just called priorities man! Priorities! Some people like to live in shacks, but drive an Escalade. Others like to live in mansions, but drive an old Buick. Some have money, but live frugally. Others don't have money, but live lavishly. Some spend alot of their money on familys, relatives, etc. Others spend money on themselves only. It goes on and on and on....

  4. If you have a mortgage, how did you transfer title? Mortgage companies generally want to know about that sort of thing, and your mortgage contract likely had a clause in it that required you to pay the balance immediately on transfer of title. Did you pay the gift tax when you transferred title to your Dad? The IRS loves it when you don't follow all the steps. What I'm syaing here is that transferring titles on real estate willy nilly is a really bad idea. Obviously, you cannot sell the house now without your Father's permission. If you have him transfer the title back to you, the whole gift tax issue raises its ugly head again. Please don't take this as criticism, it's a good learning opportunity for everyone.

Thanks for bringing that up. I didn't know about that. All i know is that i gave my friend the money and he went to the attorney. Next thing i know, a month later, i go to hcad and my father's name is there. How about if i add my name back to the title? Basically, leave my father in it and just add mine back. Would that be easier?

  5. i thought the owner had to sign the paperwork. did he pass?

After closing and moving in to my new house for like 3 months, i changed the title to my father since he was moving in with me. No, he is still alive, but i want to move now and he will be going with me. That does bring up an interesting question since you brought it up. If my father passed away, how would the title be changed in my name then?

  6. I have a question. A few years ago, i bought a new house. My elderly father moved in with me. After that, i decided to change the title of ownership for house to his name to take advantage of the Homestead over 65 since he is gonna live with me for a while. A friend of mine knew an attorney who did this for me like $170 bucks. Now, I am planning to sell this house and move elsewhere. Is it gonna be difficult to change the title back to my name? I am still paying mortgage on it obviously. Or is it better to just sell it under his name and get the proceeds from my father? Which is easier or the better way to do this? Thanks.

  7. A bit off this topic, but is there going be one day when churches, temples, synagogues, etc. pay property tax? These places are businesses!! I doubt they will be taxed soon, but i'm wondering if government has even thought about it.

  8. I just wonder how many really go there to get a good workout or to enjoy the perks of the stuff you guys mentioned. For me, when i go to a gym, i don't care for buffet, social activities, etc. I want a gym that is just good old fashioned workout with functioning fitness equipment to use. I could care less for that extra stuff or gawking at women/men like i see alot of people do.

  9. And the Celtics did it the night after beating San Antonio... It was a rough game, the Rockets looked totally outmatched. Rafer seemed to be thrown off from his little altercation in the first second, Scola seemed intimidated by Garnett on both ends, Hayes was/is a poor finisher (there is a reason Landry had taken on his minutes), T-Mac... well he did get double-teamed everytime, but he definitely did not look like a star out there. Boston looked awesome, and did so without Ray Allen.

A game where we really needed Yao. Celtics didn't give up the 3s since we didn't have a low post prescence that could hurt them, so they stayed on our guards.

  10. Today's game was awesome... good to see the guys get it done with McGrady playing like total crap. When is Landry gonna comeback from the knee injury/I wonder if it was worse than they were letting on?

I think Landry's injury is much more serious. Swelling of the knee shouldn't take over a week or so to heal. Something is up.

  11. Well, the Hornets beat the Lakers, Utah beat Boston, Detroit beat San Antonio. The Rockets are now tied for 1st place. Also, the Lakers lost Pau Gasol to injury, David West of New Orleans (an All-Star this year) re-injuries is right ankle, and Ray Allen of Boston does the same.

    Look at Rockets.com:

    :)

Good thing you pointed out about those injuries. Hopefully, it evens out when those teams play us in the upcoming games. As far as the Rockets, it would be nice to see Landry back.

  12. The streak will probably end on Sunday. I hope not, but more than likely. Remember, that after Friday, the Rockets play the Lakers, Celtics, Hornets, Warriors and Suns. This could determine where our seeding is. There is only like 3-4 games separating 1st thru 8th seed. A two to three game losing streak can mean the end of a season.

  13. Looking at har.com, there appears to be a lot of homes for sale in this community. The homes appear to be stylish, tuscan-style townhouses built from 2000 - 2006. Over 2000 s.f. and priced in the low to mid 200K. What gives? Does anyone have any information about the community?

I actually went into one of these when they first built them. It was the first time i had seen this type of home. 3-Story with kitchen on 2nd floor i believe. This was back in 97' or 98'(?), definitely before 00'. After that visit, i never returned, so i didn't follow up. Can't recall the prices at the time.

  14. If you're thinking long term and have some dough to spend, Windwater Village or homes in that area are a good investment. I really believe in 5-6 yrs, that area will be revitalized. Hey, if property values around Dowling St are going up, then surely this area of Sharpstown is going to see the light of day too! For single people, i don't see it as problem living there with the gates. If i was married with kids, that would be a different matter. It would be a great place for me too as it is close to Chinatown and considering how much i dine out, pretty much a no-brainer. Now only if i had some spare cash to spend..haha
