Yeah I agree. I actually asked the lady I know from the Hermann park Conservancy about that and she said most likely no.

On my daily commute through Hermann Park, I noticed they have begun digging a path for the expansion of the Hermann Park train. They are going to build a train station next to the Metro Rail station so people who ride the Metro Rail can take the Hermann Park train to the zoo, and they are building another station near Miller Outdoor Theater / Museum of Natural Science. I thought that was a cool idea. I guess people often take their kids on that little train and comment on how you can't get off when you see something interesting. Makes sense to me to do something like that. I wonder when the new train service will be running...

Awesome. That part of Westheimer has a lot of potential to turn into something really cool (it already is a cool area around there). This is very exciting if its actually going to be developed.

Another photo of Mosaic from Hermann Park this weekend (a better one).

Sounds interesting. Which building is this again? Is it the grey colored abandoned building around there?

Check out the map on har.com and look at zip code 77004, there are lots of townhouses near the medical center (and near a metro rail station) in this neighborhood. Look to the west of the 288 as the neighborhood is much nicer than the east side of the 288. There are definitely a lot of places in your price range.

Since elves have nothing to do with Christianity, I could care less if they change the lyrics to a song about elves. I don't consider that a distortion of Christianity, I consider it a distortion of the commercialized holiday of Christmas. Those are two very different things. Unless I missed the part in the bible about elves. I just can't get worked up about a distortion of a song about elves.
Now if they changed the baby Jesus's name to the "Holiday Baby", THEN I could understand people getting worked up about it. And I'm not even Christian.
People complain too much.

So the long term predictions are definitely not right, but I the short term ones most likely are. I guess Houston is going to be the country's 5th largest metro area soon.

Yeah, how old is that data? We've been passed Philly since I moved here (a year and 6 months ago).

The website still says the "Grove" restaurant is opening tomorrow. Does anybody know if that is really going to happen?

Wow lots of robberies along the metro rail line. That's pretty scary.
Here's a good website with monthly crime data in google maps. I find it interesting to look at what times the crimes occurred. A quick glance at midtown shows that a significant number of the robberies happened during daylight. I didn't realize it was that bad.

I call it a Chanukah bush.

The only drawback was some of our friends got held up at gun point right around the block as they were walking in.
Damn, that's scary!!

No fair, the Dallas images are much better quality, and you can look up and down (you can't do that in the Houston street view). And the coverage seems better. And it doesn't seem like they took all of the images on a sunday at 7:00 am in the winter with no leaves on the trees. I think they need to start over with the Houston street view, it really makes a lot of Houston look bad.
I see 3 people sitting on benches. Can I be the first to say that the entire street is devoid of pedestrians? -
Which corner of the East End are you talking about?

I think there's a rendering in this thread somewhere. It's supposed to be mixed use in the style of Midtown Square!
-
Haha (the TV dishes).
I think a grocery store in this area would probably be a good thing for those living downtown as well as the East End and even parts of Midtown and the 3rd ward. I wonder how likely it would be that one would be built there.

Why is the title of this thread "Grand Opening". I don't think they'll be having a grand opening for at least another year...
-
Oak Farm has purchased the land in that area
Does anybody know if Oak Farm is building another plant there, or if there might be a more interesting use for the land?
-
Cane somebody merge this with the existing 2727 Kirby thread?

Maybe we should just get Niche to become our "Judge Dredd"

Only because of all the red tape. We need to dramatically overhaul and streamline the process.
Isn't the whole point of the red tape to make it more certain that the conviction is correct? Do you believe that streamlining the execution process would not result in more false convictions? Or do you just not care if it does?

That statue looks so lonely in that huge empty lot, and it's behind a fence too, right?
