perhaps give Josephine's and that new bar "Reserve" a kick up in business.
Speaking of "Reserve", I walked by the other day and it looked like they were getting pretty close to opening up for business!

A downtown Books-a-Million will be flooded b/c it's literally 5 minutes away from main campus, and 5 min walking distance from UHD
Not to mention a 10 minute rail ride from Rice, Baylor, UT/MD Anderson, TWU, Prairie View Nursing, A&M Health Science Center, HCC, and the rest of the universities in the Medical Center area.
According to www.TMC.edu, the Medical Center has 33,150 Full-time students and more than 75,000 part-time students.

I don't think your attachment worked... at least I don't see it.

I just figured out how to add the One Park Place 3D model to Google Earth!

Actually... it turns out you CAN download the one park place model and add it to Google Earth! Cool!

And there are lots of other buildings not included by default too!

In San Francisco there were some really funky public toilets that sanitized themselves when you finished using them. The only problem was you had to wait about 10 minutes after somebody came out before you could go in while they did their automated cleaning process.

Hey Admins? Can you move this thread to "going up" ??
By the way, here's a nice rendering of this project. You can see it pretty well from the Rice South Plant webcam, and it's now at about the height of the Kindred hospital next door..
And more info and renderings here.

HAIF works fine on an iPhone, the only problem is sometimes you have to scroll down really far to get to the bottom of a thread and that can take a while with so many posts per page. I don't think iPhone has a gesture for skipping to the bottom of a webpage yet.

Cool project! I look forward to seeing more photos!

I've never seen the heads from the highway. Does anybody have any photos they can post? How close are they to the highway?

Seems like it'd be a perfect fit for the Astroworld tract, especially if the Astrodome gets converted to a convention hotel. Pre-existing LRT access, a more central location that is roughly in between our two airports, and if Pearland is really THAT important, its still reasonably close by.
For once, you and I agree on something!

Wow, 65%, that's a good sign!

I thought this was sort of interesting. The Waterlight district is possibly going to be the location of the "Nano World Headquarters", which is supposed to be "office, laboratory and conference space and will serve as a venue for collaboration amongst academic, industry and government partners pursuing Nano development, and as an accelerator for startup companies aiming at commercializing the resulting technology."
Wow, a nanotech place right in the middle of all those presidential heads!
I heard about this at a conference at Rice yesterday...

i wouldn't say it is abandoned
I guess what I meant was the front entrance was boarded up (I confirmed this when I drove by today). Such a shame for a nice building like that. Some day...

For real? That stinks. I like lives angle much better. But I do like google's ability to show street names w/ their satelite image.
In Safari it just loads a search screen. Damn you, Microsoft!
-
Would it be possible for you to post Google maps instead of live.com maps? Those map links won't work outside of Internet Explorer.

Why don't other fire stations have big parking lots like this though?
-
I drove by it again today and I was struck by how far it's set back from the street. What is the point of having a huge parking lot in front of the fire station? It's not going to be a fire station plus CVS, is it? (j/k).

I was driving downtown along San Jac today when I noticed a large ugly concrete building somewhere between Jefferson and Pease with a fence around it and a Fentz construction sign. Does anybody have any idea what's going on?
I went to their website and this (http://www.fretzconstruction.com/portfolio/current/shcc.htm) looks slightly similar to the building with the fence around it. Are they turning that ugly building into some sort of church building?

the part of the park closest to the ballpark (north?) is still very torn up.
Most likely because they are working on the pond there.

Not to mention Little Woodrows in the Rice Village...
I'm not going to be too disappointed, unless it becomes a parking lot. At least Little Woodrows is a chain and not something totally unique and irreplaceable.
