I'd be worried some crazy Saudi would hijack an airplane and purposely crash into it.

I heard end of July or first of Aug. Getting all the mechanical stuff inside hooked up and running, stocking shelves then training new employees will take a while.

Sometimes I can't believe I survived my younger years without a cell phone. It was like living in prehistoric times not being able to text or twitter every second.

So can I say GAO now?
edit: I can!

make distracted driving illegal.
if you are participating in an activity that is distracting you from operating a vehicle, you get a ticket.
You cannot leave anything to law enforcement open for interpretation. It just doesn't work. Like when the state enacted the law in 2003 about obscured license plates. Some overzealous officers got carried away with it and were writing tickets without looking or understanding the "intent" (my wife was one of those).. In 2007 the law was revised and clearly spelled out what the state considered obscured

Inconsiderate people who text while driving shouldn't receive a citation. They should be dragged out of their vehicle and pistol whipped. Just my 2 cents.

Well! Either they're lily-livered or we're alcoholics.
A second margarita should impart a distinct, pleasurable buzz.
Most definitely. Especially if it costs more then $5.

Well said. On a brighter note... how can we stop this thing?
You can't stop it. Just embrace it and look at the bright side. Soon you can play Walmart Bingo.

I went to the Walyworld by my house over the weekend for dog food and bird food and as I entered the store there was a large display of Huggies diapers on my right and a display of Slim Fast on my left. They definitely know their customers.
-
LOL. Mission Bend/Alief area of Hwy 6 is pretty ghetto.

The developers of The Woodlands sensed in the early 2000s that their community was maturing and in need of a branded make-over. Having The Woodlands Mall in their pocket simply wasn't enough anymore. Thus, the Town Center concept was born. It was a marketing gimmick to prevent stagnation of the brand. It was a good idea that worked. However the effect is as impermanent as retilers are fickle. As demographics transition, so do storefronts.
Westbury Square was nice once.
Westbury Square was a victim to new fangled air conditioned malls and really poor management. Funny, with the new popularity of "town centers" and the demise of many indoor malls Westbury Square would probably be very popular today had it been kept up. As you stated, demographics do change and you have to wonder what the next big retail experience will be.

Happy 25th Anniversary to Jean-Michel Jarre's Rendezvous Houston!
That really was one of the most awesome spectacles I have ever seen.

Nope. There's no catch at all. It's simply that you're wrong.
Impossible. Although I admit the radiation from Japan might be clouding my thinking somewhat.

Saw Uconn practicing Friday at Rice.

Great picture. You made me hungry. How do they compare to El Tiempo's? Theirs are about the best in town to me. So are their margaritas, which seem to be El Real's downside which is a big negative in my book.
-
I don't know about much needed since there's a Randall's within easy walking distance. I guess there might be a niche there for an upscale or specialty grocer. How many sqft are they talking about?
Could be a good location for another Whole Foods store. Area demographics is a definite fit.
Or if they play their cards right maybe they can get a Super-Walmart.
-
Ha. That actually would be pretty cool.

The Woodlands is pretty unique. I don't think they fall under any city's jurisdiction. They rely on Montgomery county for many of their services. They have been talking about incorporating into a city for years but I don't know if it will ever happen. Sharpstown was always Houston and the schools were always HISD from what I can remember. Houston expanded it's boundaries on that side of town very early, to keep Bellaire from doing so.

Personally I would have thought a high density of apartments was more of an indicator.
That to but I don't think they would bother to build cheap apartments if there was no public transportation. Kind of a catch 22.
-
As long as Metro stays out of the communities then I would say no.
-
I have a question about Sharpstown (I didn't really want to start a new thread) that's been bothering me for a while: when Sharpstown was built, was it in the city limits? And if not, was it an "official" city?
I believe it was always inside Houston's jurisdiction.

larry's and Lopez's are completely different styles of food not sure of the facination you've mentioned. larry's doesn't put canned chili on their enchiladas. Clearly roasted meat is their norm. please go to El real and report back. You'll discover what bad tex mex is.
I'm scared to after your review although I guess it's worth a trip just to see the remodel.
-
If anyone is looking for old time Tex Mex go to Larry's Mexican Restaurant in Richmond. Been there for decades. Look for the Felix inspired sign.
LOL. You sound like one of my best friends that goes to Larry's every week. My wife and I have been there but have never understood the fascination with the place or of the popular Lopez near the Meadows. Neither have bad Tex-mex but nothing to write home about and their margaritas are terrible. Much better places exist but I know everybody's tastes are different.
