  1. The crane is up along Main St. Once the Medistar/Greystar cranes go up as well it should make for some pretty good TMC skyline shots. Not sure you can really capture all of the activity from a single vantage point, though
  2. This could be worthy of a new topic, but regardless I found out what the 2nd midrise will be... There's an ugly, overgrown lot at North Braeswood & Main (east side of Main) that I walk by almost daily on my way to the trails - they've been using it as a staging ground for the re-surfacing on Main, and I noticed there was no longer a for sale sign. "AHC South Main LLC" closed on the property on 5/19/16. I couldn't figure out what exactly that was but a managing director for Allen Harrison Co. (AHC) signed one of the documents. I'm not sure if this will be deleted, but I was able to read the article Urbannizer referenced from March without a subscription (just had to put in my email): I kept reading that as 7 stories, but sounds like it will actually be 11 floors total Edit: Sorry, that's just 1 of 2 midrises. The other will be a 5-story complex on 3 acres in the Heights (per the article)
  3. Looks like that was 6600 Main, or at the corner of Main and Dryden http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=146836 Not sure if this link is going to work, but apparently that plot of land (still a parking lot) is owned by St. Luke's: HCAD Link
  4. They apparently finished the utility work weeks ago as there has been no activity on the site at all for quite some time. However, today some heavy equipment showed up - looks like they might be ready to start moving on this:
  5. The one on Holcombe was nice enough, but we never really went to it for some reason. I'd love for a Trader Joe's to come into that spot but it's probably too close to the one on Shepherd
  6. I drove by this site tonight on Fannin and saw some "Common Ground" signs (which are also visible in Street View). Here is the flier for the listings: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x63d4xugyutyaw6/Midtown.3.Acres.pdf?dl=0 Undoubtedly the block on the lower left is the one indicated in the Caydon brochure, but from this it looks like that Art Supply building wasn't part of the deal?
  7. Some more detail on this in a recent HOK publication - nothing new in terms of those renderings (despite the super-imposed image of downtown instead of the medical center!), but the 2nd page has some additional description about their concept https://issuu.com/hoknetwork/docs/hok_master_planning__landscape_arch/126
  8. You're right - it totally escaped me that the location is on the North side of Shakespeare. I guess it will be right next to those Rice apartments. They didn't waste any time listing these
  9. Looks like we were generally correct about the location: http://www.chateauten.com/location.html Maybe 2511 and 2513 Shakespeare? Both appear to have the same owners ("Catherine III LP" and "Catherine V LP")
  10. This is actually a separate topic - this parcel of land is unrelated to TMC3, it's just in the same area of town. At this point it's just a large piece of land for sale
  11. Saw this article in the chron this morning - http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/columnists/sarnoff/article/As-far-as-land-goes-large-tract-near-Medical-7252410.php Does anyone know where to find the marketing materials? I checked out the Cushman & Wakefield website but couldn't locate it. It's not quite as close to TMC3 as Nancy seems to think (I think she's looking at the wrong parking lot), but still relatively close
  12. That appears to be the UT Health parking garage, and it really does intrude - the upper trail just squeezes by it, and there are obvious issues with erosion. I'm guessing they will have to use a wall along that section with Project Brays as I'm not sure how else you could widen the channel
  13. From yesterday - kinda cool seeing a crane along the bayou. This will be 53' higher than the UT building next door (the shorter orange buildings). The next Project Brays segment is slated to be through this section, and the (hopefully) eventual 7200 Main site is to the left. And yes, that's a small, perennial homeless encampment under the Greenbriar bridge
  14. Walked by tonight and still nothing significant to report, though there *might* be another piece of heavy equipment out there. They recently updated the on-site rendering to include the Ascent Med Center tower:
  15. Is there an article out on it? I know that was the schedule they announced last month I drove by this morning and looked more or less the same - closed off, ongoing utility work, ceremonial pile of dirt in the middle of the lot. I will check it out on the way home, though Still wondering when they will announce the hotel brand (and if it's still Intercontinental)
  16. I think you're right, I saw the tent as well and it looked the part. Now there's just a big pile of dirt there, so they must have done it over the weekend Website is up for the apartments but not much to see yet: http://www.ascentmedcenter.com/
  17. No joke. It's by far the biggest eyesore on my daily drive in - it's quite a contrast to go from Museum District to that area to cranes and high dollar apartments popping up along Travis. For the Super Bowl, any folks driving in from the med center/NRG area along Main or any folks taking the rail up will get an eye full I don't know what the story is with Peggy Point Plaza but I just noticed (a year late) it has been fenced off (previous thread here http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/31851-public-parks-fences-and-the-homeless/). I think the church or some other group feeds people around there as I occasionally see a ton of homeless folks behind the fence in line. I'm kind of going OT here but the homeless probably tend to congregate there as well since it's convenient to the rail - I don't take the rail during the week but I know on the weekends I often see a number of homeless people in there
  18. The article does say West University "area". Looks like it will be in 77030 zip, not 77005 I noticed a friend check in on facebook at "Rice Village at West University" recently - it's not the main check in ("Rice Village District" is) but apparently a lot of people associate Rice Village with West U Even a Houston visitor's website seems to infer that Rice University itself is in the West University "area" http://www.visithoustontexas.com/about-houston/neighborhoods/west-university-rice-village/
  19. This must be coming to Shakespeare between Kirby and Morningside as Shakespeare becomes Fenwood on the other side of Kirby and dies out after a couple of blocks. I'm not familiar with West U deed restrictions and zoning but I can't believe something like this would be allowed on Fenwood There are several decent size plots of land (like 2515 Shakespeare) that might fit the bill here, but not sure. That's the closest plot size I can find but it's currently the home of some older condos
