  1. The will rebuild the towns and they will be as strong as ever. I just hope they build a better and higher seawall. Maybe consider creating parkland right behind the walls and then highways past that. Something to act as a buffer.
  2. I am just shocked that they have no way to plug. Is there not anyway to fix it? I know this is a huge challenge, but every ounce of water just adds to the misery.
  3. You look at the reports televised on the news and you wonder, where do you start? It just seems so overwhelming. Everything is gone. Do you just build a new city or move it? I can't imagine anyone would consider wanting to be so close to the water again. I personally think the goverment should limit the amount of construction on or near the water. I also wonder about the floating casinos. Will Mississippi allow land based casinos after seeing the destruction they did as they came ashore?
  4. I have not heard flood wall, I just here levee. Even the major referred to it as levee on GMA this morning.
  5. Thank you for an honest post. This story was not caused by Bush or anyone else. It was caused by mother nature. The very liberal New York Times ran an article blaming. . . NATURE! Imagine that, nature. Global warming was not mentioned (for once). I wish some people could look beyond politics, but they are too ignorant to do so.
  6. I think this is a great idea as well. Also, NOLA is non-stop conventions. They need somewhere to go, as awful as it sounds, this is the time for the city to jump in and offer whatever they can.
  7. I am for the media 100%. Without them, who will get the word out? No one people. I do think some of the media are fools and just full of themselves, but in this case, we need the media to reinforce the COMPLETE devastation in the region. I have family and friends in Mississippi that have nothing left. Without the media on them, people would not feel the need to donate. Ask yourself, how are they going to eat, drink, bath, use the restroom. Money, forget that, there is not any. Most people will not have jobs for months, if not years. One other point. Has ANYONE seen foreign aid coming to our citizens? We are always the first to give, lets see if we get any help.
  8. Barney's in Houston used to be where Chanel is currently located. I actually like Co-Op much better. If they do open in Houston, that is great.
  9. Barney's has been scouting out locations in Dallas for a new location. Northpark is the likey location. I also heard that Barney's Co-Op could be opening a location Dallas as well.
  10. New Orleans is not my favorite place, but from a pure economics point of view, the city is a cash cow for developers looking at this type of project.
  11. I think it is going to be in Nashville for a few years. With CMT televising it, they will probably want to keep it in their neck of the woods.
  12. I love The Shops At Willow Bend. I can go anytime and I am the only person in the place. It really is a wonderful mall. The architecture is very Frank Lloyd Wright and some of the stores are great. They just opened the place when the market was not strong enough to support some of the stores.
  13. Yes, I hope he is joking. Maybe he is just senile.
  14. I see this project moving ahead as planned. I have a few friends in commercial real estate in NOLA and they told me this will happen. The market is red hot and developers are scrambling for projects.
  15. Sounds like a great place for a home like this. To me, something like this seems somewhat less obtrusive than a sfr or manufactured home.
  16. Yeah, but what you rather look at? I don't think I have ever seen a double wide that is nice. Oh, the new pc word in "manufactured housing" or "pre-fabricated housing".
  17. Not sure if this is the right thread or not, but this site has helped me out: www.gasbuddy.com
  18. I have seen these mentioned in Dwell. I think they are great. The design is simple and clean. You might want to check out their website, www.dwellmag.com. Where in East Texas?
  19. Do you have any other information? Name of company? Contact phone number?
  20. You are probably right. I lived there for a year. I never did see a huge downpour, just the cold, windy drizzle for the most part.
  21. No, trust me, it is gone. I was eating dinner in the shopping center last night and did see where it is gone.
  22. That is good. I thought the same thing until I started working. Now, I catch myself daydreaming all the time.
  23. I would think it would be more expensive for a dig, but I could be wrong. Plus, just think from an aesthtic point of view. Flying in our out of Hobby you would just see this stip of green (if covered). Even if not covered, just below ground, it would still look so incredible. Oh, and billboards. We have to do something about them. I am so sick and tired of billboards on top of each other down Westheimer and on our freeways.
  24. Can't we all just get along? I am not sure who said that, just remember hearing it when I was younger.
