  1. The model of the project that guy is standing behind sure this make the Oaks District look loverly. How long do we have to wait til this starts construction? With this and BLVD Place trying to come online at the same time, Regent Place starting construction anytime now, West Ave already under construction, and the High Street proposal, does it seem like overkill to anyone? Or can Houston support all of these projects? I feel one of these projects will be killed, or groundbreaking will be delayed by 10 years. Most likely High Street, because all the other projects seems to far along.

  2. If it's built in Houston, I say tear down Northwest Mall (it's a useless mall anyways) and built it there. There would be enough room for the huge base it would need (and fake lake, as I learned from Dubai, your tall towers have gotta have a fake lake) and it would be close to uptown and downtown, but not kill those skylines. So you could take pictures of the downtown skyline, uptown skyline, and Freakishly Tall Tower. Just hopefully there wouldn't be too many wrecks at the 290/610 interchange because of people gawking at the thing as they drive by.

Okay, now back to planning that trip to Mars....

  3. Someone mentioned it earlier, but the rendering does look like the one for the Mandarin in Chicago. We could be getting a Mandarin Oriental Hotel and Mandarin Oriental Residences downtown. Of course this is just one rendering, but let's let the rumors fly!

  4. Maybe this is the secret project the mayor was all giddy about a couple months ago?

Oh yeah, and would this be considered one of the last seedy blocks on Main? In one of the articles about downtown recently, something was mentioned about a project being planned for one of the last "seedy" blocks on Main. I think it might have been when Discovery Tower was announced.

  5. Has anyone heard of the proposed project in Vegas called WET? I think something like that would be great for the dome, more so than friggin gondola rides or whatever, but I guess anything would be better than nothing for the dome, as long as it's not demolished.

  6. So I was listening to XM Radio, it was the 20 on 20 station, where they play the 20 most requested songs, anyways, this one song came on called "Hate Me" by a band called Blue October, and then I heard the song on regular radio also. I enjoyed it, so I looked it up, and turns out the band is from Houston. Did anyone else know about these guys? A lot of hip-hop has been coming out of Houston lately, but this is the first rock band I know of. They're even on VH1's "You Oughta Know..."

  7. Okay, I know the article said they're trying to retain existing retailers, but what are the chances they'd actually be able to keep Eatzi's? I love the place and wouldn't want them to move too far, like out to freaking West Houson or something, but I don't know if they'd want to be next to a Whole Foods Flagship. Maybe they could be part of the High Street Project?

  8. Well I wasn't thinking exactly like the Navy Pier, maybe something more like a sideways Navy Pier, wide instead of long. Something that would help the Strand out, because as is, The Strand isn't exactly a shopping destination to go out of your way for, unless you want T-shirts. Althought I must admit, I've never been to the Strand at night, so I have no idea if they have a nightlife, but it would be cool to see it with more bars and restaurants also, along with some Navy Pier type thing, then add the other island attractions, like Schlitterbahn and Moody Gardens, and I forgot what my point was, it's too late to be typing

Okay, duh, a sideways Navy Pier would be a boardwalk, I'm not always the brightest
