  1. "Still, has anyone seen "Sidekick"??? I"m telling you, for Houston shots - no movie can beat this one!"

Is the one with that kid from the NeverEnding Story 2? He's like trying to be in a martial arts competition or something, and Winnie from The Wonder Years is in it? I saw this movie a long time ago, but I wasn't paying attention to what city it was in, so I don't remember. I do know Houston gets a shout out in just about any movie having to do with space. "armageddon", "space cowboys," "apollo 13", those Mars movies, etc...

  2. I don't know what my point is, but Reality Bites was on TV last night, I like that movie. Anyways, back in the day when I used to watch it, I never payed attention to what city they were in, but now that I live here, last night while watching it, I was like "Hey, that's downtown!" Again, I don't know what my point is, but it was interesting for me.

  3. "Also, do you think Dillards would go for getting torn down and being put out for 6 months to a year before re-opening though? Big loss for them at that location. It would have to be right after the New Year when sales are the slowest."

I think they would survive, especially with one at MC now, and I'm sure they would benefit having a newer, better laid out store than what's currently there, plus they would now actually be connected to the mall, instead of people having to go outside and cross the street. Also, I was thinking a skyway like the one Galleria 4 uses, with the retail, but I couldn't figure out how to do it with Neimans in the way. Oh, and it should have super keen architecture, since it will be facing 610 (maybe they can bulldoze over that Erotic Zone). If there is open land near Galleria 4 where they could do an expansion without people having to go through an anchor store, that would be much better! I'd have to see the area again, since I can't visualize where the open land is. And I only brought Galleria 5 up because I remember when they were building 4, the developers did say they had plans for a 5, but not for at least 5-10 years after 4 was to open, but that could have just been big talk. I was also thinking maybe they could open up a California Pizza Kitchen for the Veranda food thingie 27 was talking about. I know there is one at Post Oak and San Felipe, but maybe they could close that location, and actually that whole shopping center, and do something better with that land, like condos, office tower, or more of an "urban" retail center (I know, it's Houston, but still!)

  4. However, as I stated earlier, Dallas' just underwent a major expansion/renovation from top to bottom, and added a Grand Lux Cafe (Cheesecake Factory's upscale cousin) (only two others in the U.S. - L.A. & Chicago).

Oh, and about this, isn't there a Grand Cafe Lux being built at the Houston Galleria, or is the Galleria they were building one at actually the Dallas Galleria I'm thinking of? Either way I really hope one ends up in Houston, I've been to the one in Vegas and that place is Gooooooood, with a capital "G!"

  5. I'm new to Texas, but I'm learning fast that there seems to be a rivalry between Houston and Dallas that I didn't know existed. I'm from California, so I can tell you we have the same thing there between LA and San Fran. You got the one city that's considers themselves more sophisticated and culturally suave and what not, or as others might say, "snobbish," and then you got the other city that is considered large and unruly. Then you have San Diego doing their own thing, which I guess for TX would be San Antonio. Our capitols differ though, Sacremento is, God forbid, inland! Eww. While Austin seems to some kind of hip trendy place, but I don't have first hand knowledge. Anyways, I can't really comment on HouVsDal since I've never been to Dallas, but Houston had the job and the cost of living was in my price range!
