I have heard that you can hear your neighbors in the next unit. Is this true in your situation? The building seems to have that reputation because I have heard that comment from different people. Also, is the maintenance fee based on square footage or do the small units pay the same as the large units?
I am currently leasing a loft, so I wouldn't know what the maintanance fee is based on. You can hear your neighbors in the next unit, but its very minimal noise.
Other than that, its a great place to live in. Very quiet for the most part.

I actually know the loft that you are looking at. I live in the 4th floor of St. Germain and its an awesome place to live in!!! You won't regret it.

All,
I am planning a weekend roadtrip somewhere in Texas (max 6 hours away from Houston).
What are your recommendations? (please exclude San Antonio, Austin, Dallas/Fort worth).
Thank you for all of your help.

Because government ordinances REQUIRE parking to be provided.
Next silly question.
So then is hypocrisy by the government? I mean, first you tell me that driving while drunk is illegal but yet you will offer parking to make it a high probability to break the law?
-
It wouldn't be such a problem if we had an amazing public transportation system
Yeah your right...is better to get a P.I.
-
"713 to 214"...i know its not illegal to drink and then drive ( as long as your not intoxicated) but what is the probability that people go to bars and come out legally drunk?
-
That's been going on forever.
Not sure of the question of why theres parking lots. Person pulls, in gets out of car, enters bar, gets loaded, comes back to car, drives away, gets busted.
Sounds like the ideal trap to me?
Makes one wonder how much revenue the city makes on DUI cases each year. By the way, this is never going to go away, DUI that is. As long as booze flows and people stress out, the cycle will continue. Peer pressure, temptation, machismo, movies, songs, family problems/history, mental illness, cant name all of the reasons people slam em down. Its strickly a personal choice. Best to just get hammered at home I reckon. Bottoms up!
All i'm saying if people know that they are going to bars to drinks...how come establishments encourage drinking and driving by providing parking lots to their patrons?
-
they do.
why are there parking lots at bars?
-
Why don't cops just wait for customers to come out of bars and drive away so they can stop them for DWI?
-
There also will be a Wal-Mart going up where the Flea Market is today off of Little York and Eastex!
is this ever going to happen? It has been rumored for the past 5 years but nothing has happened. Maybe now that they are expanding e. little york walmart and other stores can come to the area.

I'm talking about hiring a builder to do it for me. Inner city Houston is out of the question
-
Good thinking I found this thread because I want to built my own house too. I am looking to built a one story spacious home. I am into more of the modern architecture.
-
Cheap land I am talking about between 20 -30k.
-
I'm not sure if someone has asked this question before, but I am very interested in building my own house. Inner city Houston is out of the question since land is very expensive, but I am talking about land in between the suburbs and Houston.

*sigh* Another victim of proximity.
Should have made the 15 minute trip to Hoboken (it actually wasn't even that far from where you were).
Any pizzeria that you has a hostess isn't going to be as good as a place you can just walk in and grab a table or a slice.
LOMBARDIS PIZZA IS AWESOME!!! Highly recommended!!!

Little Ceasars!

Will this pertain to townhomes too? I am looking around in buying a townhome and i'm willing to stay put for at least 5 years.
Please advise.

Are there reasonable prices MOD's available in Houston?
If so, where can I find them?
Thanks

What steps should I take in buying a 2006 certified vehicle? (ex. run carfax report, how much should i negotiate etc...?)
By having a pre approve loan from bank, will I be in a advantage position when negotiating for price?
Thanks for your advice.
To Buy A Loft Or Townhome?
in Houston Real Estate
Posted
I am a single 26 year old young professional and I am finally going to go through the big commitment in buying my first place this year.
If you were in my position, what would you rather buy...a townhome in the inner city Houston area or a loft (condo) in downtown? What would have a better resale value down the line?
Your advice is welcomed. Thanks.
