  1. I went to the ribbon cutting of a trail near Glenbrook Park on Sims Bayou sometime last year. One of the local residents was complaining to the politicians. He was asking how come they don’t line up their bayous with concrete how they’ve done in the “rich parts of town”. Meanwhile, the Heights is working on removing the concrete from WOB https://www.hcfcd.org/Activity/Active-Projects/White-Oak-Bayou/Lower-White-Oak-Bayou-Channel-Restoration-Study

there is no way for you to prove that, and I would challenge anyone that told you that to provide some proof that doesn't include some oral historical passing down from generation to generation, and specifically doesn't include information that originated from people who would stand to profit from selling land on the bayou.

the reality is, the water's color is very natural. vegetation, organic matter, runoff, fine silts that never settle on the bottom, these are the major things that make the bayou look like it does.

the only bayous that I've seen that look clear are the ones that are channelized and straightened into huge concrete drainage ditches, there's a long stretch of Brays bayou that you can see things in the water, but that's because it's been traveling through 30 miles of concrete channel. head on over to Scott Street and take a look, I suppose if we really wanted Buffalo bayou to look clear and 'pristine', we might want to call in the Army Corps of Engineers to come do a concrete lining on the bayou.

    Sims bayou looks pretty nice

Below are the most recent leasing materials for The Terrace on White Oak. The leasing brochure was updated in May.

Possible retail tenants for Building A and Building B are included in the updated site plan:

    • Angie's
    • Little Louie's
    • Van Leeuwen

Angie's, a pizza pop-up, is shown occupying 3601 White Oak Drive. Next to Angie's is Little Louie's at 3605 White Oak Dr.

A few months ago, Angie's announced plans to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant of its popular pop-up in the Second Ward (3401 Harrisburg Blvd, Suite G). The announcement also revealed plans for Little Louie’s. It's described as a "a daytime micro-bakery offering coffee, pastries, bread, and deli sandwiches."

Van Leeuwen is a craft ice cream parlor with several locations in Houston. The site plans seems to indicate Van Leeuwen will occupy Building B at 3607 White Oak Dr.

Just realized Van Leeuwen has a location at Radom Capital’s Montrose Collective. Pretty decent ice cream, overall very happy with this lineup so far! This area really needs a small grocer/convenience shop like Blue or Foxtrot and if there are any remaining spots I hope something like that opens up here

^^^ @mattyt36 dude, my buddy, my pal... please give this MAGNIFICENT song... "TIME WILL REVEAL" a try.  DeBarge is a wonderful/talented group with beautiful and inspiring music.  just venture forth into YOUTUBE, turn it on, and lose yourself into the sumptuous sounds of love, life, and vitality...

i mean, i just do not know what else to say.  THE GREATER HOUSTON PARTNERSHIP just had a rebranding and is now called... HOUSTON FIRST.  maybe, the HORIZON CO., is awaiting for HOUSTON FIRST to get their collective house in order... before moving forward with their prospective W enterprise?  astros owner JIM CRANE has hereby stated that "the newest forthcoming development shall include a FOUR STAR HOTEL BRAND".  (maybe jim has snagged the W brand for himself since he is a supposed billionaire and he can basically construct whatever he so chooses.  along, with the fact that the W HOTEL brand very often includes RESIDENCES within their developments and jim crane would certainly harbor the room to include this very lucrative addition)  maybe, the W HOTEL BRAND shall be included within the TMC-HELIX PARK development... and two hotels exhibiting the same luxury brand in such close proximity is not at all feasible.

WHO KNOWS?  however, all that i do know is that... TIME WILL REVEAL 🎵🎵🎵

    Love your posts. So fun!

Regarding the Rutland St Bridge, there's been workers doing some sort of Utility work here on this map:

    Not sure if it's related.

According to TxDOT, they are about 35% in design and they have done some soil sampling. On track for groundbreaking fall 2024 *fingers crossed*

Hoping to see Houston Parks Board enter an Inter local agreement with TxDOT to take over maintenance for embellishments of the bridge such as lights, extra width, benches , etc that txdot wouldn’t do by themselves

  6. I agree. This is a great location. Looks like Heights will be getting its own Bunkhouse operated hotel. Hopefully this will be the spark that gets both neighborhoods dotted with boutique hotels - a few around museum district would be very nice too

I'm trying to think of a better location for a Houston hotel, and I'm coming up empty. It's very easy to imagine this quickly becoming the best hotel in the city.

Bunkhouse was at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hotel Saint Augustine and in an interview the President of Bunkhouse Hotels said this......

"Bunkhouse also has more in store for Houston. “We have another project here in Houston that we’ve been working on in The Heights,” Bonifacio says. Timing? “After this one.”

Are they referring to this Daphne hotel or a separate project?

Uptown/ the galleria area are sooooooo bike deprived. We legit have 0 bike lanes for one of the busiest/traffic heavy areas in Houston. In my opinion, the entire Uptown area needs a lot of work in terms of walkability/ biking infrastructure. For example, Memorial Park is technically part of Uptown Tirz yet there are no bike lanes that lead to it?!
