Alright, now you guys are over doing it..... no one said the port needs to be razed down and replaced with cute coffee shops "lol."  @tangledwoods and @samagon understood exactly where I was coming from with my statement. @iah77 you're 11 posts late and provided nothing but a corny and childish statement. For you to say me or anyone else on HAIF think "we all just live off cute coffee shops or something lol," is a subtle way of calling someone stupid/naive. Try not to act conceded as if you know more than anyone else on this forum. It's really not hard to act like an adult and be respectful.

  2. Most might disagree 😂, but with all the work thats going on around Buffalo Bayou, it's starting to look like a LITTLE like the Colorado River in Downtown Austin. I'm loving the work the city is doing to expand the little nature we have with Buffalo Bayou and Memorial park. It was clearly a hidden gem before the city started renovating buffalo bayou and all the developments started sprouting up around Allen parkway. Imagine once the east section of Buffalo Bayou is complete we get a similar revitalization of the east side to essentially mimic Allen parkway! If anything, the east side of buffalo bayou is actually nicer geographically since the water is deeper/ wider; mimicking a river. Look at buffalo bayou's huge body of water at east 610. Just picture this area; trees, landscape, and developments like RH replacing the ugly warehouses, the city starts doing boat tours, etc. Why did we as a city/ state even allow all these UGLY warehouses/ ports to open SO CLOSE to the inner city? Could they not have limited them to the bay? This area could have potentially looked like 610 and memorial but NICER.  Nonetheless, this is my absolute favorite project in Houston and hopefully they continue to expand and eventually take over the entire buffalo bayou! 1431801578_ScreenShot2021-11-17at10_39_22AM.png.21d88a8d919138f6a35bb33c38b5930d.png

In the wake of the pandemic, and the large number of people who no longer drive to work, building yet another garage probably made no economic sense.

    It looks like there are 3 parking garages facing this potential garage spot; one on LaBranch (behind this building), one on Walker, and one on Austin st. It would be a literal nightmare if they build a garage there 💀

  4. The RH restaurant/ rooftops are really famous around the country. They're in almost every major city (New York, Chicago, Miami, SF, Toronto). There's even these restaurant/rooftops in Dallas, Nashville, Charlotte, and Ohio. So, I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to expand this concept to Houston. I expected this sooner than later given how busy our RH is. 

     

    I can't wait until we find out RH stands for Residence Inn Hotel 😂

    So I am one of the above^ and I can answer this! So there are many different types dental/ optometry offices; some that accept medicare/ medicaid and have much cheaper exams, some that only take private insurance and charge a lot more for an exam. One office would look very "moo," staff very "moo," while the other office would be more sleek, modern, and luxurious. Some offices carry very basic glasses while others carry the most exclusive frames. Both are successful, but have very different clientele. Some patients would rather spend thousands of dollars to have a "luxury experience".... basically they come in expecting 5 star customer service, random luxury experiences like coffee/ pastries/ maybe even a massage chair in the waiting room, want the best/ most exclusive products, etc. These locations are prime for that kind of clientele/ patients.

  6. I think we also need to take note that these dramatic increases in property value isn't just in 3rd ward. Take a look at Garden Oaks and Oak Forrest. Small 1,200 Sq ft homes are being torn down and mansions are replacing them. Homes that would sell in those areas for 120K 10 years ago are now selling for 600K. The Heights was probably one of the biggest food desserts in Houston, filled with nothing but body shops and abandoned lots. We all know how drastic the entire heights has changed over the last decade. Homes that used to sell there for 200K for half an acre now sell at millions. This is inevitable in Houston; one of the fastest growing cities in the US. Nowhere is safe, especially not a neighborhood thats within the vicinity of Downtown/ Midtown/ Museum District/ Medical Center/ and even hobby airport. This has never been about targeting a certain race (Black/Hispanic/ etc). This is strictly supply/ demand and business. None of us are guaranteed the neighborhood we currently live in, if you want something "affordable"......well we literally live in Texas, there are endless affordable living options. Let's be a little grateful that we don't live in NYC, Chicago, Seattle. I mean even Atlanta and Fort Lauderdale are pricier than here. Property value will ALWAYS increase in a big and growing city, no one should be exempt from it just because of the color of their skin.
