  1. Yeah, the Google maps are pretty cool. We've come a long way since Terraserver.

This page shows the address for the original Jefferson Davis Hospital: 1101 Elder Street.

I believe the other Jefferson Davis Hospital was at the location where the new Federal Reserve building is on Allen Parkway. I stood nearby and watched the second Jefferson Davis Hospital be imploded. Amazingly, I took no photographs. That was pretty stupid, even for me.

I was born here in the 80's and came across this on the internet

  2. Well it looks like we have offically started rebuilding as Battier and Brooks are gone which leaves Chuck as the only player left from The McGrady-Yao-VanGundy ERA

    Rockets moving forward

I hope Thabeet becomes a "NBA" player soon enough, but I believe he will protect the rim way better than anybody we have now. Funny how Shane was our best shot-blocker, but Thabeet should be better (shot-blocker @ the rim) and also should change alot of shots as well. Like Hakeem he has not played Basketball his whole life, and comes from a soccer background. If anybody can help him it would be Hakeem The Dream. I also believe Dragic should be improvement on defense over Brooks, but not as good offensivley. I hope this trade will allow the Rockets to loose more games while gaining more Lottery chances and giving our youth vaulable on court time.

  3. There are not many places that recycle Styrofoam, best thing is try not to use it. Here are some helpful links!!!

Looks like the best place to drop off in Harris County is @ the City of Houston North Environmental Service Center.

  4. The Astros have come to terms with Delino Deshields Jr their highest pick since Phil Nevin was taken 1st overall in 1992.

Also Astros have been streaking as of late. I must say it definitely is a nice change from the beginning of the season when I could not even watch a game!!! I feel like I'm back in 2001 watching Roy O, Octavio Dotel, Tim Redding, Adam Everett, Julio Jugo, and Lance Berkman. Angel Sanchez almost hit a cycle last night and had 6 RBIs for the Astros 7th straight!!!

  5. Imo, its about helping your community and enjoying with your kids. Its a chance to do something as a family with other families while helping the environment. If only the kids/adults that actually use Buffalo Bayou assisted in cleaning it up, then it would be trashy all the time. Not assisting in cleaning up the bayou because I don't live next to it is like saying we should not help with the oil spill because its not affecting our beaches. What a perfect world it would be if all kids decided on their own to clean up the parks they use? To me its not coercion, because personally if my niece or nephew did not want to help out, then I would not make them do it just to simply satisfy me. Also the cleanup is 1 hour & 1/2 followed by a fashion show.

  6. Incredible game! I hope some of you got to see it. USA advances off of Landon Donovan's put back in stoppage time. Simply awesome

Great game!!!! Way to stick with it after being screwed out of another goal.

  7. I think I wrote most of the above and I still stand by it.

Robertson is a great place to watch a game. There's not a bad seat in the house and the intimate setting, growing tailgate scene, and even corny palm trees have grown on me. Oh, and UH is on a major winning streak there. At last count it was 15 games which I think is 3rd or 4th longest in the nation.

That said, the biggest problem with Robertson is that it doesn't fit today's ADA standards. All additions cannot touch the original structure or else everything in the old part will have to be redone (ramps, restrooms, dormitories, etc...). That's why the overhaul 10 years ago was limited to freestanding end-zone structures, free standing concession bldgs, etc... and that's why the renovation costs probably came in at over $107 million.

The last bit of info I know is that my father and I went to Okie State this past season. T Boone hosted the UH delegation in the Cowboy's new palace of a stadium (OSU spent TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY MILLION to upgrade their old stadium) and ole T Boone said if he had to do it all over again, he'd have torn down and built new. I think that made a lasting impression on Mack and Renu.

I can say from working @ Robertson (Dynamo Blue Crew) that I have enjoyed my experiences there, and have no problem with the stadium in its current configuration. Having said that, I know that (Dynamo) fans have had problems with the layout of concessions, and finding their seats and closest restrooms. When I worked there it did have the feel of an high school game, which to me made me enjoy it that much more.

  8. "UH has probably never received the community support and recognition it deserves," Whitmire said. "I just say, `Enough's enough. Let's get on our horse and start promoting UH.' And it's a pretty easy job. UH will sell itself, given an opportunity."

"I just think it's going to take a visionary to say, `Wow, you know what? Houston makes sense.'"

Also this New stadium should be real nice with the new rail connections!!!
