Finally! When I lived near Richmond I use to drive past this building everyday and it always bugged me how dirty it was. Great to see it's finally getting some love.

Based on what I can tell, they are more there for style rather than some future expansion.
Yeah, finally went last night myself and walked in this area. The boardwalk in the wooded area is rather narrow, so I think these little stubs allow people to either take a break or step out of the main path so traffic can flow through.

I"m hoping to swing by tonight! I've tried going the past 2 weekends to see if it was open with no success. Kind of wish they had set a more definitive opening date, but I guess given the virus they didn't want people swarming the place all at once!

Did you ever thing that we would be on the verge of saying " The Montroe skyline " ?
If we did, it would include a "s" 😉
Jokes aside, no, it's really exciting to see how the neighborhood is going vertical.

Shepherd and Durham are up there with Richmond as the top roads that need to be repaired/reconstructed in my mind.
With all the development exploding along Shepherd, repairing the roads and adding bike lanes would be huge.

Looks like it will be a pretty "instagrammable" place once everything is all done. Hoping it's a success!

A quite significant campus development that hasn't been mentioned here yet: there appears to be a groundswell of support among the student body to remove the statue of William Marsh Rice that has occupied a central position in the quad for 90 years, due to his history as a slave owner:

If it's attached to slavery in any way, it seems like it's only a matter of time. I wouldn't be surprised if they start a discussion to rename the college as well.

So this tower was scrapped?
I would assume so, at least this iteration of it. If the hotel does end up happening, I'd venture to guess it will be half as tall and won't look nearly as good.
I think COVID has set the industry back.

It's amazing what a fresh coat of paint will do to an old structure.

Forgive me for living under a rock, but I'm assuming the demolition of Clayton homes is to allow for the realignment of 59? It's not necessarily going to host other residential or commercial (at least in the near term)?
That was the assumption in my mind as well.

Looks pretty cool, although I'm assuming that trolley is more decorative than functional 😄

Looks great, but to change the subject briefly, gas is back up to $2.40 near River Oaks? I'm up in Jersey Village and it's still only $1.70 - $1.80 tops.
The more I think about it, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

With a company like Hines behind this project, I am very excited!

Good to see, I was wondering if they were going to try rebuilding another path. But given how close it is to the bayou, it may be a matter of time before this one erodes as well.

Might just be my IPad but the link to the map isn’t working- spreadsheet link is fine.
For some reason it isn't clickable. When I copy and pasted the link into the url bar, I was able to pull it up.

Wow, so the main tower will be just under 500 ft tall?
If so that's going to be an awesome sight to see once it starts going vertical.

And I can’t wait for the new W hotel
Is that deal still moving forward despite the COVID-19? I know they had approved things before everything went south, but I haven't head anything since then.

From a few days ago, it looks like they will be breaking ground soon on the land bridge! New render I also have not seen yet.
