  1. My issue is that they are going by current projections that passenger traffic will be flat.

In this economy, I wouldn't argue that, however once it improves, there is a possibly that it will mushroom and we will be struggling to catch up again.

It would be like building terminal d on a larger scale throughout the entire airportwith little forethought.

  2. That's ok.

I lost my Mexican card when I voted for Romney.

Just because you're a minority, your vote for a political party is not predetermined.

Anyone that thinks and does that, imho, is an idiot.

  3. The way Houston is set up,...

What makes Houston so different from Seoul?\

Here there are at the same scale. There isn't much of a difference that I can see.

The general distances are somewhat the same from their version of 610 to ours. I'm not familiar with the topography, but from what I can see, they have mountains to the north and south of the city about where 610 north and south would be.

The only difference I can really see is that the subway system is more developed there, and have a substantially larger population (10mil vs 2mil).

  4. This is quite fascinating.

However, I do wonder where the traffic "went".

Were the freeways rerouted, or did they simply "end?"

Looking at the map as it currently stands, is quite interesting.

I haven't been able to find a map off hand that shows what the infrastructure (Bus, Subway, freeways) looked like before the deconstruction.

Perhaps it would be interesting to have a discussion on how this CAN be implemented.

Let's not start off by simply saying, "It can't be done", when we know it has been done in a larger city.

There are quite a few things that have to fall in place before it can be done, improving transit options and routes. All that would have to be done to coincide with such a project.

  5. I happen to meet an engineer that was in town for Metro. Turns out a team of over 40 engineers were running sound/vibration tests on the material they used to sheath the rails with. Unfortunately, i don't know the results, but I'm sure someone might leak the info in the future.

also a team came to test the new car that just arrived, but I wasn't able to wiggle that much more information from them.

  6. Maybe they're buying the Citgo and strip center as well. How close can you build residential next to a gas station?

I don't think that is the case. They purchased all the land they planned on getting, otherwise, they wouldn't have announced it. To do so prematurely would have made the other landowners increase price of their land.

I need to see if I can take a proper picture of the land for a "before" picture.
