  1. I have noticed professional photographers at the Olympics are not using flash. I'm sure part of the reason is they're not allowed? I know the venues are well lit, but I would think they'd still need them, especially since they are action shots. Are their cameras and lenses just that awesome?

    Even at a texan game, I didn't have problems shooting without a flash.

    Yes. The equipment is that awesome. Saw an article about what they carry, and some of the lenses alone were in the ten grand range.

  2. I can relate, I was passing ellington when I saw the giant guppy taking off. THAT was unreal looking. I can't edit to take a peek at the A380. Maybe I can get a food shot from one of the garages.

  4. After reading all this, I think I think everyone is making a mountain out of a molehill.

    For me, the uniform simply is more functional then the old uniform. The boots would be far better use while pursing a suspect over rougher terrain (i.e. not on sidewalks) as well as offer a better grip over concrete surfaces.

    Supposedly, the material will allow them to be cooler and allow them to take their bullet proof vests on and off more easily when inside a station.

    Now, if you prefer them to utilize a uniform over a bullet proof vest on a 90-100 degree day that isn't that breathable to begin with, along with pants that can be easily torn wearing shoes that can easily slip and slide even on a concrete surface during a foot chase, then I can see your complaining about it.

    Screw the police, they don't need a practical uniform.

  5. In the days leading up to, I threw EVERY bottle of water I had in the freezer, then turn them into ice, shifted them into the fridge, reloaded more water bottles on top and continued the cycle until my fridge/freezer were full.

    When the power went out, my fridge was cool for almost a week.

    The food inside was either cooked or consumed within a matter of days using a cooker outside. burgers/meats were consumed within a day of the storm, sandwiches 4 days after the storm. I had cool/cold water for a little over a week. Ice wasn't a big deal to come by after the first week.

    Fuel was more challenging for the car, but I learned that you were better off getting it at night when the lines were shorter, and in some cases, nonexistent.

    Overall, being without power for 21 days wasn't really that big of an issue, aside from missing TV and wondering what the coverage was like (even when I went to NYC a week after the storm, I didn't see any real coverage up there). To this day, I don't know how much or how little coverage got compared to New Orleans.

  6. I don't want to give the specific address, as I mentioned above there were 7 cop cars responding, so if it is your street you would have seen the cars.

    But the general area is: South of Reagan High, North of 11th, Between Stude and Heights.

    I think just a street and general cross street would have sufficed. That would just be neighborly.

  7. I believe it is the black community that was unjust to chad holley.

    From what I can remember of the report I heard, there were twelve blacks in the jury pool for this particular case (I forgot the stats for the other races), but all were dismissed when said that, not only did they SEE the video, but also formed an opinion on the officer's guilt or innocence.

    What irritates me is that the community is so quick to blame the very justice system they could participate in.

  8. I got the ridership numbers up to last year, and I should recieve info on this years numbers within a few days.

  9. Great post. Agree with almost everything in it.

    BUT, if light rail doesn't take cars off the road in any significant amount, how will it ever be able to reduce the demand for parking garages/lots in downtown or TMC in any significant amount?

    I think that I a city such a ours, I don't think that moving people from their cars is a major goal, bit rather to offer an alternative to driving to areas that are heavily congested.

    I have saved time going in from webster, parking downtown and taking the train to and from the med center and reliant.

  10. Looking at the rendering made a couple of things pop out:

    The hilton hotel is going to either be part of the grb, our will be demolished and replaced with the the expansion.

    The garage on the northern end is going to have to allow room for the light rail since out os going to cut through a corner of that block.

    There are going tip be massively tired people at the end of the day as people walk to the hotel on the back end of the grb unless there is a very efficient shuttle circling that massive structure.
